UIN Jakarta Explores Cooperation with KPJ Healthcare Group Malaysia

Malaysia, UIN News Online – UIN Jakarta is exploring a partnership with Malaysia's largest healthcare service provider, KPJ Healthcare Berhad (KPJ Healthcare), also known as the KPJ Hospital Group. This exploration took place during an international cooperation visit by a team from UIN Jakarta to Malaysia, led by Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A. Ph.D.

The visit coincided with Rector Asep Jahar's role as President of the Asian Islamic University Association (AIUA) in Perak, Malaysia, where he presided over the working program meeting of the association for Asian Islamic higher education institutions on Wednesday (31/7/2024). Accompanying the Rector were Vice Rector for Cooperation Din Wahid, M.A. Ph.D., Head of the Center of International Cooperation Prof. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem, M.A. Ph.D., and Director of RS Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta drg. Marisa Julinda Marzuki.

The presentation of the cooperation exploration was delivered by Director drg. Marisa Julinda Marzuki to the Chief Operating Officer of KPJ Healthcare Berhad, Dato’ Mohamad Farid Salim. Dato’ Farid expressed his positive appreciation and recognized the significant opportunity for the development of UIN Jakarta's hospital, RS Syarif Hidayatullah. "We will study it," he stated.

Dato’ Farid added that they would bring the cooperation exploration with UIN Jakarta to a limited meeting of the board along with the CEO of KPJ Healthcare. Specifically, he noted that they see the potential for RS Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta to become a referral hospital for cardiology as very ideal and interesting.

In an official statement received by UIN News, the exploration of cooperation for hospital development at UIN Jakarta is part of efforts to increase non-UKT revenue to support funding for educational programs, research, and community service at UIN Jakarta. This aligns with the mandate for the development of UIN Jakarta as a Legal Entity State University.

One of the backbones of non-UKT revenue is hospital services. Therefore, the hospital managed by UIN Jakarta must continually improving its services with modern healthcare technology.

To realize this effort, UIN Jakarta is actively seeking investment in the development of its managed hospital. The investment consulting firm Tejareka Malaysia, led by CEO Eila Zaiful Yazan, connected UIN Jakarta with KPJ Healthcare Berhad, a leading healthcare company in Malaysia with branches throughout the country.

According to UIN News Online, KPJ Healthcare Berhad, more commonly known as the KPJ Hospital Group, is the largest healthcare service provider in Malaysia. The company operates 28 hospitals and 4 Ambulatory Care Centers available in nearly every city in Malaysia.

Additionally, as the largest healthcare provider in Malaysia, the KPJ Hospital Group is supported by a resource pool of 1,400 specialists and subspecialists.
