UIN Jakarta establishes the center for halal studies

Ciputat, UIN News Online – In order to maximize the contribution of UIN Jakarta in developing the halal product studies in Indonesia, UIN Jakarta launched the Center for the Study and Development of Halal Product (P3JPH) on Tuesday (11/03/2020).

The launch of P3JPH was carried out directly by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis and witnessed by the Head of the BPJPH Halal Registration and Certification Center, the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs H. Mastuki. Also present in the event, the Head of LP2M UIN Jakarta Jajang Jahroni, the deans, bureau chiefs, the as well as the P3JPH UIN Jakarta administrators.

Rector Amany in her remarks hopes that P3JPH can optimize the contribution of UIN Jakarta academic community for the development of halal studies and products in Indonesia. “The existence of P3JPH is also one of our efforts in integrating science,” she added.

P3JPH UIN Jakarta itself has several visions and missions, including organizing education and training activities for halal auditors & supervisor candidates who are certified according to the standards set by BPJPH.

Furthermore, P3JPH UIN Jakarta will encourage the creation of innovative products through research and development studies of halal products. P3JPH UIN Jakarta will also carry out research and development of methods, instrumentation, and innovation of halal products.

Another mission is to provide assistance to industry, especially MSMEs in the halal registration and certification process and to assist industry / business actors in the development and testing of halal products. Finally, become a BPJPH partner in socialization, education, and certification of halal products to the public.

Organizationally, P3JPH UIN Jakarta is a non-structural institution consisting of five divisions with 17 main programs in each division. The divisions include the Halal Training, Socialization and Education Division, the Halal Product Research and Innovation Division, the Public Relations, Marketing and Cooperation Division, the Halal Auditor and Supervisory Certification Division, and the Halal Information System and Technology Division.

The short-term program of P3JPH UIN Jakarta is to collaborate with BPJPH, relevant Regional Governments, Central and regional LPPOM MUI, Halal Study Centers in several universities, non-governmental organizations, and with small and medium industries business actors.

While the long-term program is to prepare opportunities, facilities and infrastructure for prospective auditors, prepare to become a Halal Inspection Agency as well as establishing a pilot Slaughterhouse which will also function as a training place for the practice of animal slaughtering in accordance with Islamic Law, which is derived from the Quran and Hadith.
