UIN Jakarta Conducts Humanitarian Fundraising for Palu and Donggala

Ciputat, UIN NEWS Online - UIN Jakarta through various campus elements conducted humanitarian fundraising for the victims of the earthquake and tsunami that hit residents of Palu City and Donggala Regency, Central Sulawesi. Fundraising was carried out throughout Monday to today.

A number of campus elements such as rectorates, faculties, study centers, and various student organizations work hand in hand to raise funds from citizens of the UIN Jakarta academic community. They toured the campus to receive donations from donors, both in the form of money and goods. Aid recipient posts were also prepared in various corners of the campus to make it easier for citizens of the academic community to distribute aid.

Based on a report from the UIN Jakarta humanitarian fundraising committee on Tuesday (10/02/2018) afternoon, the provisional funds that had been collected were recorded at Rp. 24,820,000. The funds were collected from donors, both individuals and institutions.

According to Vice Rector of Student Affairs Yusron Razak at a coordination meeting "UIN Jakarta Peduli Palu" along with a number of student activists in the Center for Student Affairs Administration Service, Monday (1/10/2018), all funds collected will be channeled through other agencies handling disasters.

"We collect the funds first, especially by activists of student organizations such as the Student Council and student activity units (UKM). After we collect it, we will channel it and coordinate with other institutions, "he said.

Until this news was released, the fundraising of  "UIN Jakarta Peduli Palu" carried out by various campus elements continued. Even among certain student organizations, Palu's caring actions are not only in the form of fundraising but also as volunteers who will help the victims directly at the disaster site.

As reported, the city of Palu, Central Sulawesi, and its surroundings was rocked by an earthquake measuring 7.4 on the 24th September 2018 at 18.22 WITA. The earthquake which was accompanied by a 3 meter high tsunami wave destroyed all areas, including the IAIN Palu campus. In the terrible event, it was also reported that more than 1,300 people lost their lives and hundreds of others suffered serious and minor injuries. (usa)
