UIN Jakarta Climbs 149 Spots in UI GreenMetric 2026, Breaking Into Top 89 Globally

Azerbaijan, UIN News Online — UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has once again recorded an international achievement through The 2026 UI GreenMetric Sustainable University Rankings. In the rankings announced in Azerbaijan, UIN Jakarta successfully secured 89th place globally, entering the ranks of the Top 100 Sustainable Universities.

This position reflects a significant increase compared to the previous year. In 2025, UIN Jakarta was ranked 238th globally. With the 89th rank achieved in 2026, UIN Jakarta climbed 149 positions within a single year.

In addition to breaking into the world's Top 100, UIN Jakarta also received "The Most Improved Sustainability Performance Among the Top 100 Universities" award in recognition of the university's accelerated sustainability achievements.

During the announcement series, Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Dr. H. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., delivered a speech virtually. In his address, the Rector expressed appreciation for UIN Jakarta's milestone while reaffirming the university's commitment to continuously strengthening Green Campus implementation and fostering a culture of sustainability across the campus community.

According to him, reinforcing sustainability forms an integral part of UIN Jakarta's efforts to build an educational environment that is not only academically distinguished, but also deeply committed to environmental stewardship and the future.

This achievement is the result of collective dedication across the academic community through various Green Campus development programs and initiatives. These programs encompass the core indicator areas evaluated by UI GreenMetric, namely setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transportation, and education and research.

Head of the Green Campus Development Center at UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Hendrawati, M.Si., expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the university leadership, faculties, institutes, bureaus, work units, faculty members, administrative staff, students, and the entire academic community who supported the execution of various Green Campus initiatives.

Appreciation was also conveyed to the Green Campus Team, who worked diligently throughout the data collection, processing, and presentation phases, as well as reporting for the UI GreenMetric assessment.

“This achievement is the result of shared dedication. This award serves as motivation to continuously reinforce a culture of sustainability and generate a tangible positive impact on our campus environment,” she expressed.

Securing the 89th position globally alongside The Most Improved Sustainability Performance Among the Top 100 Universities award marks a vital milestone in UIN Jakarta's journey toward advancing a sustainable campus. This milestone further drives the continuity of various Green Campus programs, ensuring they become increasingly integrated into the university's academic life and institutional governance.
