Centered around the theme "Strengthening Global Participation to Realize Quality Education for All," the event was led by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie, and attended by the university’s academic community, including executives, faculty members, and administrative staff.

During the ceremony, Vice Rector Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie emphasized that education is far more than just a transfer of knowledge, it is a process of uplifting humanity and shaping character.

"Education, in its essence, is a process of honoring humanity, nurturing potential, building character, and guiding lives toward the common good," he stated.

He further noted that universities must focus on raising students who possess not only academic intelligence but also strong integrity and national consciousness.

"From our classrooms, we expect the birth of ideas rather than just memorization, and genuine empathy rather than mere numerical achievements. The quality of learning must be continuously maintained. Furthermore, technological developments, including artificial intelligence, open up many new opportunities for us," he added.

The Head of the Bureau for Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation, Dr. Sri Ilham Lubis, explained that this National Education Day commemoration serves to reaffirm the institution's commitment to improving educational quality.

"Today, we celebrate National Education Day to renew our pledge as an educational institution to continuously elevate the quality of education in Indonesia," she said.

She also added that the annual commemoration serves as a tribute to the legacy of Ki Hajar Dewantara, the pioneer of Indonesian education.

"We also commemorate this day to remember and honor the great contributions of Ki Hajar Dewantara. We want this spirit to inspire the entire academic community here at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta," she concluded.

National Education Day is celebrated every May 2 in Indonesia to honor the birthday and legacy of Ki Hajar Dewantara, the founding father of national education, and serves as a vital momentum to continuously advance the country's educational landscape.
