UIN Jakarta Career Center Held Career Compas EXPO 2024 to encourage Professional Career Preparation

Student Center Hall, UIN News Online - In order to support students' career preparation, UIN Jakarta together with the Career Center held a Career Preparation Seminar entitled “Navigating Workplace Culture and Career Mapping for Future Success”, in the Student Center Hall, Monday (9/12/2024).

Representing the Rector, Vice Rector for Student Affairs of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Ali Munhanif, M.A, Ph.D, in his speech revealed that the challenges outside the campus are much more demanding, multifaceted, and diverse. He revealed, “Students need to prepare themselves with strong adaptability, creativity, and resilience in order to face the real world with confidence,” he said.

He also added that campus is a place to build a foundation, but the real measure of success will be tested when they come into contact with the dynamics of society.

The Head of the Labor Market Center, Muchamad Yusuf, S.T., M.Si, in his presentation gave 3 tips in the world of work, namely CIA (Competent, Image, and Acquire). Competence, according to him, is the main foundation that every individual must have. “Professional ability, creativity, and problem solving are three things that must be the main focus of each individual in improving self-competence,” he explained. In addition, self-image is also a determining factor for success. Self-image includes not only behavior and communication, but also integrity and personal branding.

In addition to competence and self-image, Yusuf emphasized the importance of the ability to get and develop opportunities. One should not just wait for opportunities to come, but should actively look for them and continue to learn after getting them. “Success does not just come out of nowhere, but is obtained through efforts to continue to develop oneself and take advantage of existing opportunities,” he said. By integrating these three aspects, Yusuf hopes that job seekers can prepare themselves thoroughly and become individuals who are competent, have integrity, and always develop.

In addition, Business Development at Jellyfish Indonesia (JEI), Emma Yutrianingsih, S.Hum., in her presentation entitled "Understanding Workplace Culture: Adapting, Thriving, and Building the Right Mindset “ explained that mastering language and understanding culture are the main things in adapting to the world of work. A good understanding of company culture and effective communication skills are essential to thrive and succeed in a diverse work environment.

Not only that, the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower's Labor Market Center, represented by Widya Agsari, S.T., M.Sc., supplemented this seminar by presenting the material “Getting to Know the Industry and Opportunities in Emerging Sectors”. In her presentation, Widya explained that today's industry is very dynamic and depends on technological developments. Therefore, anyone who masters technology will be in high demand by the industry, especially in emerging sectors. Through this seminar, it is hoped that students and graduates of UIN Jakarta can better understand the competencies and skills needed to succeed in the world of employment.
