UIN Jakarta-Baznas Agreed to Cooperate

FSH Building, UIN News Online – UIN Jakarta and National Zakat Board of Indonesia (BAZNAS) are agreed to cooperate on zakat optimization as an instrument of community empowerment in the Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH) Building, Wednesday, (6/8) Memorandum of understanding is signed by Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof. Dr. Dede Rosyada MA and Baznas Chairman Prof. Dr. Bambang Sudibyo MA.

The MoU numbered 009/MoU/P/BAZNAS/03/2017 and Un.01/R/OT.01.6/560/2017 will be last for 2 years. Areas of cooperation will include education, research, book writing, and community outreach in the paradigm of zakat function optimization as a religious instrument as well as the instrument for empowering the ummah.

The signing of the MoU was appreciated by the rector, according to him, zakat is a religious means that affects the socio-economic independence of the people. "Zakat can be an important economic instrument in raising the life of the people, With zakat, we can reduce the poverty,” he said.

In line with Rector, Bambang considers that zakat is an economic instrument that is actually effective in overcoming the problems of poverty. According to him, the root of poverty and backwardness in Indonesia and the world can be overcome if the function of zakat can be optimized.

“The selection of UIN Jakarta as a partner in the optimization of zakat is based on many considerations. One of them is the availability of resources with a variety of academic research products that can optimize the function of zakat for the benefit of the people,” said Bambang

The signing of the memorandum of understanding itself was witnessed by a number of invited guests and academicians, among them are Presiden Director of BRI Syariah Moch. Hadi Santoso, Deputy Chairman of Baznas  Dr. Zainul Bahar Noor SE M.Ec, Member of Baznas rof. Dr. Mundzir Suparta MA, and Dean of FSH Asep Saefuddin Jahar Ph.D. (usa)
