UIN Jakarta-Australian Embassy Held Seminar On Contemporary Islam In Indonesia and Australia

FISIP Theatre, UIN News Online – UIN Jakarta. in collaboration with The Embassy of Australia Held Seminar on Contemporary Islam In Indonesia and Australia at FISIP Theatre, campus II of UIN Jakarta, Wednesday, (9/20).

Present in the event, Director of the University of South Australia’s Centre for Islamic Thought and Education Prof Mohamad Abdalla, Research Director of PPIM UIN Jakarta Ismatu Ropi, Deputy Ambassador of Australia for Indonesia Bradley Armstrong.

In his remarks, Prof Mohamad Abdalla explain about the development of Islam in Australia in the past until finally can be accepted by society. “Islam will thrive in Australia because Australians highly value the diversity. We are working together for a better good without having to look at ethnic or religious differences,” he said.

On the same occasion, Deputy Ambassador of Indonesia for Indonesia Bradley Armstrong said that both Indonesia and Australia government will commit to cooperating intensively in the field of education. “As a neighbor, Indonesia and Australia can learn from each other. The Australian Government itself is very supportive of Indonesian students who are currently studying in Australia,” he said. (usa)
