UIN Jakarta Appoints 11 International Adjunct Professors to Strengthen Global Research and Academic Collaboration

Rectorate Building, UIN Online News — Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta officially appoints 11 International Adjunct Professors (IAP) to accelerate campus internationalization, enhance research collaboration, and increase reputable academic publications for the 2025/2026 academic year. The appointment is formalized under Rector’s Decree Number 840 of 2025, with assignments effective from October 1, 2025, to October 1, 2026.

According to the rector’s decree, the appointed professors and their respective institutions are:

  • Prof. Hadi Susanto (Khalifa University, UAE)

  • Prof. Dr. Ahmad Sunawari Long (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Malaysia)

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wannee Deoisres (Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University, Thailand)

  • Prof. Gerald Lee L. See, Ph.D. (University of San Carlos, Philippines)

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zuwati Binti Hasim (Universiti Malaya, Malaysia)

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Zaidi Bin Daud (Universiti Malaya, Malaysia)

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdelghani Yahyaoui (Abdelmalek Essaadi University, Morocco)

  • Assoc. Prof. Hakimah Mohammad Sallehuddin (Universiti Putra Malaysia, Malaysia)

  • Prof. Katajun Amirpur (University of Cologne, Germany)

  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nikita Kuklin (MGIMO University, Russia)

  • Prof. Dr. Lysann Zander (Leibniz Universität Hannover, Germany)

The IAP selection team held its plenary meeting on October 1, 2025, involving relevant academic units. The session officially confirmed the eleven professors as recipients of the IAP assignment for the 2025 fiscal year.

“The selection process involved nominations from faculties, verification of academic track records, and alignment with interdisciplinary teaching and research agendas. We aim for tangible outputs such as joint publications, thesis supervision, and expanded research funding networks,” explained Prof. Arif Zamhari, M.Ag., Ph.D., Head of the Center for International Cooperation (PLKI).

Prof. Amelia Fauzia, Ph.D., Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M), added that the IAP program serves as a platform for strengthening an impactful research ecosystem.

“With these partner professors, we aim to reshape learning perspectives, build research laboratories to accommodate international collaboration, and boost publications in reputable journals. In addition, LP2M has prepared a comprehensive program package, including guest lectures, methodology workshops, writing clinics, and cross-country collaborative research,” she stated.

According to the IAP implementation document, the program is designed to foster international academic collaboration, knowledge and innovation transfer, and a higher quantity and quality of joint publications. Activities are organized through guest lectures, workshops, and research meetings targeting both lecturers and students.

Several activities have already taken place as examples of productive collaboration. Prof. Dr. Lysann Zander (Leibniz Universität Hannover) participated in a workshop and seminar focusing on resilience, learning motivation, and strategies to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) relevant to UIN Jakarta’s academic visions.

In a session called “Structuring Collaborative Research,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zuwati Binti Hasim (Universiti Malaya) led a discussion on how to create projects between different institutions, how to assign roles in a team, the ethics of academic communication, and strategies for publishing The session attracted many lecturers and led to follow-up plans for joint research and publications.
