UIN Jakarta and UII Yogyakarta Agreed on Research Collaboration

UII Integrated Campus, UIN News Online—UIN Jakarta and UII Yogyakarta agreed to sign joint research partnership and academic strengthening of both universities at Mohammad Hatta Building, UII Integrated Campus, Yogyakarta, Wednesday (4/10/2017). The signing was done by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof. Dr. Dede Rosyada MA and UII Rector Nandang Sutrisno, SH., M.Hum., LLM., Ph.D accompanied by vice rectors, bureau chiefs, and leaders of each university.

In his speech, Dede revealed, the memorandum of understanding with UII is part of the effort of UIN Jakarta to develop its research activities. Research development is especially needed in scientific fields such as medicine and community medicine, science and technology, chemistry and exact sciences, biology and natural sciences, and economics.

As a State Islamic Religious College, he continued, the strength of UIN Jakarta is in the field of humanities sciences. But as transformation and encouragement of integration of Islam and science since 2000, UIN Jakarta is required to strengthen the field of science and technology.

"On the Humanities side, UIN Jakarta is leading. But on the science side, we have not got any branding yet. So for that reason, we considered the need to make colaboration, and one of the university we want to join the relation with is UII, "said Rector.

Development commitment in UIN Jakarta on the science research itself, continued the rector, has been taken by enlarging the allocation of research grants up to Rp 30 billion per year. Yet, in order to strengthen the research capacity and optimalize the results, UIN Jakarta need to establish research cooperation with best universities, both in or outside the country.

"One of universities we are targeting is UII. Besides having historical closeness, UII also has a track record of science that UIN Jakarta needs to learn. So maybe in UIN Jakarta there are more, in UII there are more. That way, we can learn and sharing to grow together, "he explained.

On the other side, Nandang welcomed UIN Jakarta desire on research cooperation. He hoped it able to complete the field of science of each college. "Of course, in this partnership, it is expected that both institutions get benefit each other, filling each other so both of universities reach good progress," he said. (usa)
