UIN Jakarta and Qatar University Agree to Collaborate

Rectorate, UIN News Online – To enrich academic climate for both institutions, UIN Jakarta and Qatar University agree to collaborate.

This was said by Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis during her four-day visit to the State of Qatar. According to Rector Amany,  the main agenda of the visit was to explore collaboration opportunities with various universities in Qatar as well as to introduce UIN Jakarta to the government and the people in Qatar.

Last Wednesday, (06/15/2022), Rector Amany had the opportunity to have a meeting with the Rector of Qatar University Hassan Rashid Al-Derham to discuss collaboration opportunities for both instituions.

Rashid Al-Derham in his remarks said that Qatar University has 11 faculties and several postgraduate department. He also expressed his readiness to collaborate with UIN Jakarta.

“In June 2022, Qatar University has a 2 month summer vacation. However, the signing of the MoU can still be carried out virtually and via email,” said Al-Derham.

In response, Rector Amany hoped that the first activity to be carried out is to make a joint research proposal on strengthening the insight of religious moderation in the Islamic world.

“Moreover, Qatar University has the funds to carry out joint research activity with its international partners,” said Rector

As a token of appreciation, Rector Amany Lubis handed over several journals published by the faculty at UIN Jakarta and UIN Jakarta placards. The Rector of  Qatar University also presented the Encyclopedia of Occidentalism in 4 volumes, published by ISESCO OIC in Rabat, Morocco.

For information, starting in early 2023, the Republic of Indonesia has been honored by the Qatari government to carry out the Qatar-Indonesia Year of Cultural 2023. For this reason, Qatar University invites UIN Jakarta to hold an international webinar combining major campuses in Qatar and Indonesia.

“Therefore, there are many opportunities for the academic community of UIN Jakarta to develop themselves in the international arena, both in the field of research and community service,” said Amany on Monday, (06/20/2022). (usa)
