UIN Jakarta and MUI Center Establish Strategic Cooperation in Mukernas IV MUI

Jakarta, UIN News Online - Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta established strategic cooperation with the Central Indonesian Ulama Council (MUI) in order to increase institutional contributions in the fields of education, missionary work, and strengthening the role of ummah. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was carried out in the agenda of the National Work Conference (Mukernas) IV MUI which took place on December 17, 2024 at Sahid Hotel, Jakarta.

The signing of this MoU was carried out directly by the Chairman of the Central MUI, KH. Anwar Iskandar, and the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, Ph.D., who both affirmed the importance of synergy between educational and religious institutions to face the challenges for Muslims in the future.

In his speech, KH Anwar Iskandar stated that the cooperation with UIN Jakarta is expected to strengthen the role of MUI as Khodimul Ummah (servant of the people), especially in academic-based education and da'wah. “MUI cannot be a standalone institution. Support from other educational institutions such as UIN Jakarta is very important in building moderate and qualified religious understanding in the community,” he said.

Meanwhile, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar said that UIN Jakarta is ready to become a strategic partner of MUI in strengthening the capacity of scholars and cadres through scientific and research approaches. “This cooperation opens up great opportunities for both parties to implement sustainable programs, such as cadre education for ulama, curriculum development, and joint research,” he added.

Mukernas IV MUI which carries the theme “Strengthening the Role of MUI as Khodimul Ummah in Government and Hukumah” is an important momentum to expand institutional networks and strengthen the role of MUI and UIN Jakarta in providing concrete solutions to the needs of the people.

This cooperation is expected to create various collaborative programs and activities to improve the quality of human resources and contribute to the progress of the people and the nation.
