UIN Jakarta and House of Zakat of Kuwait Celebrate the First Milestone of Al-Rabi'a Mosque

Sawangan, UIN Online News — Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta, in partnership with the House of Zakat of Kuwait and the implementing organization Jam’iyyah Khairiyah Indonesia-Kuwait, conducted the first milestone ceremony for the Al-Rabi’a Mosque in the PPG Building area of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK) on Friday (19/09/2025).

In his address, the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., conveyed profound appreciation and gratitude to all stakeholders, particularly Bait al-Zakat Kuwait, the Indonesian-Kuwaiti Charity Association, and the active administrators.

"We express our gratitude to the House of Zakat of Kuwait and the Jam’iyyah Khairiyah Indonesia-Kuwait for their commendable efforts in facilitating this noble endeavor, and we also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the benevolent citizens of Kuwait who have contributed their resources for this noble cause," he articulated.

The building of the Al-Rabi'ah Mosque is regarded as a significant boon for UIN Jakarta, aligning with its aim of merging education, faith, and service, while reinforcing its identity as an Islamic university dedicated to community service.

"The inauguration of the Rabi'ah Mosque becomes a strategic step for UIN Jakarta, in accordance with the university's vision of reinforcing its objectives pertaining to knowledge, faith, and service," he added.

Sheikh Abdurrahman Mahfal, the representative of Jam'iyyah Khairiyah Indonesia-Kuwait, stated that the construction of this mosque has garnered comprehensive support from multiple institutions, both national and international.

"The mosque's construction received comprehensive support from multiple entities, including Prof. Dede, Chairman of the UIN Jakarta Senate, and the Indonesian-Kuwaiti Al-Khairiyah Association. Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Rabi'ah from Kuwait also deserves special acknowledgment for his substantial contributions, including the construction of mosques in the Bogor and Garut regions," he stated.

He then aspired for this mosque to serve as a hub for worship, spiritual growth, and a conduit for promoting benevolence within Indonesian society.

"We anticipate that this mosque will serve not only as a center for worship but also as a venue for faith development, spiritual fortification, and moral guidance for all academic personnel and the local community," he stated.

The event's highlight was the ceremony for the construction of the Al-Robi'a Mosque. The first stone was positioned by the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, accompanied by delegates from Jam'iyyah Khairiyah Indonesia-Kuwait, Sheik Abdurrahman Mahfal, and members from the local government.

The event was attended by the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D.; Vice Rector for Cooperation and Institutional Affairs, Dr. Din Wahid, M.A., Ph.D.; Head of the Bureau of General Administration, Academic, and Student Affairs, Dr. Hj. Sri Ilham Lubis, Lc., M.Pd.; Head of the Bureau of Planning and Finance, Drs. Teguh Sarwono, M.Si.; Dean of the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, Prof. Siti Nurul Azkiyah, M.Sc., Ph.D.; Head of the UIN Jakarta International Cooperation Service Center, Prof. Arif Zamhari M.Ag., Ph.D.; Secretary of the UIN Jakarta Senate, Prof. Dr. Masri Mansoer, M.A.; Sheikh Abdurrahman Mahfal from Jam'iyyah Khairiyah Indonesia-Kuwait; and representatives from the local government.
