UIN Jakarta Advances Global Recognition with ACQUIN Accreditation for 50 Study Programs
Rectorate, UIN News Online – UIN Jakarta continues to advance its internationalization agenda by partnering with ACQUIN (Accreditation, Certification, and Quality Assurance Institute) to accredit 50 study programs across multiple faculties. This step marks a significant effort to achieve global recognition and ensure academic quality meets international standards.
The international accreditation process began on Monday (09/12/2024) and will run throughout December 2024 and January 2025. Jejen Jaenuddin, M.A., Ph.D., Head of UIN Jakarta’s Audit and Quality Control Center at the Quality Assurance Institute (LPM), expressed optimism regarding the process. “Alhamdulillah, the ACQUIN visitation process has begun. We ask for everyone’s prayers and support so everything runs smoothly,” he said.
The ACQUIN assessors, including Dr. Jasmine Rudolph, Dr. Michael Bayer, Martin Borg, Simon Schachtl, and Robert Raback, are conducting visitations, discussions, and quality checks across 9 clusters of study programs. The process began with the Islamic Studies I Cluster and Education I Cluster on December 9, covering programs such as the Master and Doctoral Programs in Islamic Studies at the Graduate School, Dirasat Islamiyah programs at the Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah (FDI), and various education programs at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK). This was followed by visitations to the Social, Communication, and Management Cluster on December 9-10, which included programs like Da’wah Management, Social Welfare, and Islamic Communication and Broadcasting at the Faculty of Da’wah and Communication Sciences (FDIKOM). Scheduled next are the Sociology, Politics, and International Relations Cluster, Islamic Studies II Cluster, and Language and History Cluster on December 12-13, covering programs in Sociology, Political Science, International Relations, Psychology, Religious Studies, Aqidah and Philosophy, Arabic Language and Literature, and Library Science.
In January 2025, ACQUIN will continue its assessments with the Education II Cluster, focusing on language and science education programs at FITK, followed by the Economics and Business Cluster at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), which includes Management, Accounting, and Sharia Banking programs. The final cluster, Legal Studies, will evaluate programs such as Sharia Economic Law, Constitutional Law, and Family Law at the Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH).
Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., emphasized that international accreditation is not only about achieving global recognition but also about enhancing the quality of education, research, and community service. “International accreditation ensures that we meet established quality standards while encouraging continuous improvement. It also provides assurance to stakeholders that the services we deliver align with global expectations and local needs,” he explained.
UIN Jakarta has already successfully obtained international accreditation for various science programs through ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics). These include programs in Agribusiness, Biology, Mathematics, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Medicine across faculties like the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) and the Faculty of Medicine.
Prof. Asep further highlighted that this initiative is part of UIN Jakarta's broader strategic goals, which include digitalization, bureaucratic reform, and the Green Campus initiative. “We hope this international accreditation process proceeds smoothly and delivers optimal results for UIN Jakarta,” he concluded.
With the visitations underway, UIN Jakarta continues to demonstrate its commitment to becoming a globally competitive university, ensuring that its graduates are equipped to excel in both local and international spheres.
