Main Auditorium, UIN News Online – Education empowers young men and women and enhances their understanding of the value of tolerance, and of its impact on our daily lives.  Education develops tolerant and ethical behavior, promotes respect and understanding of other cultures, and protects young people from the lures of violence, terrorism and anti-social behavior.

According to Nahyan, education opens avenues for cultural and civilizational exchange “This will dismantles walls between those who come from different cultures, speak different languages and follow different religions,” he said.

This knowledge, he continues, can result in peace, harmony and mutually-beneficial social and economic progress.

“I also believe that the higher education institution already equipped its students with knowledge about the histories, values and traditions of other societies to embrace diversity with an open mind,” said Nahyan.

He also refer the historic visits of His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al Azhar, Sheikh Ahmad El Tayeb to the UAE this year to promote human fraternity around the globe.

“Together, they issued the Document on Human Fraternity for World Peace and Living Together that embraces all human beings, unites them and renders them equal,” he added.

At the end of his speech, he also said that no individual, no institution, no country, or region can successfully work in isolation.

“.We must all work together to create and preserve a world order that promotes hope, understanding, stability, and prosperity,” said Nahyan, ending his speech. (usa)
