Transformation of Higher Education Institution is necessary for coping and adapting to change
Syahida Inn, UIN News Online – Higher education institution (PT) is an agent of change and development. Therefore, the transformation of PT is needed not only for adaptation needs but also must be able to shape the environment.
This was said by the Director of Business Development and Incubation, Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta, Hargo Utomo, at the Pre-Rakerpim of UIN Jakarta at the Syahida Inn Building, Wednesday (03/02/2022).
According to Hargo, there are three important things that must be considered in the transformation of PT.
First, digital transformation. Digital transformation can bring changes in business processes, including in the PT environment globally.
Second, the PT management process is now undergoing a transformation from a teaching university to a research university and then to an entrepreneurial university.
Third, the existence of PT as an agent of change is a catalyst for innovation which has an impact on increasing productivity, competitiveness, and the resilience of human resources in a sustainable manner.
Hargo added that the transformation of PT from a teaching university and research university to an entrepreneurial university is very possible. However, it is necessary to optimize the PT's own resources in order to successfully transform into an entrepreneurial university.
There are several reasons why optimization of PT resources should be done immediately. According to Hargo, universities need a multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and even transdisciplinary approach to solve community problems.
Therefore, according to Hargo, in order to develop an "Entrepreneurial Climate" at UIN Jakarta, it should ideally be built by reviving the meaning of awareness, relevance, and impact of every innovation activity initiated by the university that aims to improve the community welfare.
He also added that the existence of UIN Jakarta is not only as an academic institution, but also as a reference in formulating solutions to the nation's various problems.
“The success of the transformation of UIN Jakarta rests on strengthening the entrepreneurial spirit while maintaining strategic alignment between the development of human resources and the elements of higher education institutions in accelerating innovation, technology transfer, and assets development,” said Hargo.
