Top Graduates at the 141st Graduation Prove UIN Jakarta's Educational Quality
Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN News Online - UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta once again held the 141st Open Senate Session for the Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral Graduation, inaugurating 773 graduates, consisting of 311 individuals from the Faculty of Adab and Humanities, 312 individuals from the Faculty of Sharia and Law, and 150 individuals from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. The Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., inaugurated the graduates on the final day of the 141st Graduation series out of a total of 3,154 graduates for the 2025/2026 Academic Year at the Harun Nasution Auditorium, Sunday (September 13, 2026).
The graduation procession took place during the Open Senate Session, attended by professors of the procession members, vice rectors, bureau heads, deans and vice deans, heads of institutions and centers, division heads and team leaders, as well as the parents or guardians and families of the graduates. The 141st Graduation carried the theme “Establishing Innovative Graduates with Integrity and an Impact on Humanity.”
In his speech, the Rector of UIN Jakarta positioned gratitude as the foundation for graduates to understand that academic success is not solely born from personal effort. Awareness of the roles of Allah SWT, parents, friends, teachers, and society, according to him, must be accounted for to create an impact after completing their education.
“Therefore, above all, let us be grateful. La'in syakartum la'azidannakum wala'in kafartum inna 'adzabi lasyadid. It is not easy for people to be grateful. Not everyone can express gratitude. Because it requires self-mastery and self-understanding,” said the Rector.
According to him, this awareness also needs to be reflected in the university's efforts to improve the academic environment and services. UIN Jakarta is currently carrying out four development agendas, namely digitalization, the implementation of a green campus, bureaucratic reform, and the management and development of university assets. Digitalization, which began in 2024, for example, has reached approximately 80 percent and is still being continuously refined.
“We are carrying out digitalization which indeed just started in 2024 and is currently still in progress at around 80%; we have achieved several things. We are also making improvements in the context of a green campus, and managing the campus atmosphere with its various systems,” he explained.
Entering life after graduation, the Rector emphasized that an academic degree is not the finish line. Graduates have the opportunity to start anew with the knowledge they have acquired, without making academic achievements the limit of their personal development.
“Convince yourselves that 'I am now starting a new life, I must change.' Therefore, you must grow, move, develop, and do not stop. Do not feel complacent. You may experience euphoria this week to feel the success of having finished, but not after a week. You must start again to change and develop,” he asserted.
To guide this process, the Rector encouraged graduates to enrich their insights through history and study the journeys of successful people who possess determination, integrity, and vision. These figures can serve as references for graduates in building character and determining their steps after entering professional and social life.
“I want to convey that you must study history. Read a lot of history about successful people, because they are the ones who will become your role models,” he stated.
One of the figures exemplified was B.J. Habibie. The Rector assessed that Habibie's consistency in the development of national technology could serve as an example for graduates, including in integrating the mastery of technology with piety and spiritual dimensions. He also reminded graduates not to fixate on a figure's weaknesses because every human being has limitations.
“Meaning, in the context of technology, in the context of piety, and in the context of spirituality, make Habibie your role model. Certainly, Habibie had weaknesses. But do not look at his weaknesses, because he was also human,” the Rector expressed.
Ultimately, the Rector directed the graduates to translate their academic knowledge and experience into works that make other people's lives easier. Success, according to him, should not primarily be measured by material gain, but rather by the benefits that can be provided through one's works and thoughts.
“I emphasize here, after you graduate, do something so that your works and thoughts can make things easier for others. The goal is not how to get money, how to make money, no! But to be beneficial to others. Because that is where success will ultimately follow you,” he concluded.
Through this mandate, the Rector emphasized that it is not enough for UIN Jakarta graduates to merely carry a degree after graduation. They need to turn gratitude into a responsibility, continue to develop after entering a new chapter, learn from role models, and transform their knowledge and thoughts into works that benefit others. Thus, graduates are expected to be able to manifest the meaning of the 141st Graduation theme as individuals who are innovative, possess integrity, and make an impact on humanity.
