To Explore Collaboration in Community Service Sector, UIN Jakarta's PPM Visits Four Campuses in Maluku

Rectorate, UIN News Online - The Center for Community Service (PPM) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta initiated collaborations with four campuses in the Maluku Province from June 19 to 23, 2024. The event, held in three regions of Maluku—Ambon City, West Seram, and Central Maluku—the visit is aimed to enhance community service programs in the eastern part of Indonesia.

Several universities in Maluku, including Pattimura University Ambon (Unpatti), Indonesian Christian University Maluku (UKIM), State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Ambon, and Muhammadiyah University Maluku (UNIMA), have agreed to collaborate with UIN Jakarta's PPM.

Head of PPM UIN Jakarta, Ade Rina Farida, M.Sc., stated that the collaboration aims to strengthen synergy through the Real Work Lecture (KKN) program. The visit of UIN Jakarta's PPM team coincided with the National KKN program organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in Maluku, facilitating relationships with various campuses in the region.

Ade Rina continued that the main objective of initiating collaboration in Ambon Maluku was to explore the diverse Maluku region, consisting of over a thousand islands, enabling UIN Jakarta's students to collaborate on community service programs there.

Furthermore, Ade Rina emphasized that PPM UIN Jakarta currently runs five types of KKN programs: Regular KKN near campus areas, Thematic KKN in collaboration with other campuses, National KKN organized by the Ministry, Religious Moderation KKN by the Ministry of Religion, International KKN, and KKN within campus units.

"The initiation of collaboration with several campuses in Maluku aims to provide opportunities for UIN Jakarta to collaborate on community service with Maluku campuses," she said on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

PPM UIN Jakarta's first collaboration initiative was with the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) of Pattimura University on Thursday, March 20, 2024. The meeting resulted in an agreement with the Chairman of Unpatti's LPPM, Professor Salakory, to collaborate, especially in the upcoming National KKN program scheduled for July to August 2024.

"We are ready to host the 2024 National KKN. The Belmawa team has visited the location for verification. Now, we await approval from the relevant university leadership. Hopefully, this will enhance cooperation with PPM UIN Jakarta to improve community service in the Maluku region," said Professor Salakory at Unpatti on Thursday, March 20, 2024.

In the second collaboration initiative, PPM UIN Jakarta partnered with the Community Service Institute (LPM) of Indonesian Christian University Maluku (UKIM). The meeting resulted in an agreement to collaborate on community service, particularly in UKIM's adopted village areas, which include two communities, Christian and Islamic community, in Negeri Liang, Seram Island, Maluku.

UKIM's Rector, Hengky Herson Hetharia, and the head of UKIM's LPM, Josephus Noya, agreed to collaborate with PPM UIN Jakarta, aiming for future university-level cooperation.

"We hope that the cooperation agreement signed between PPM UIN Jakarta and LPM UKIM Maluku will continue and benefit faculty and students in terms of community service," said Josephus at a meeting with PPM UIN Jakarta at UKIM's Rectorate Room on Thursday, June 20, 2024.

On another occasion, PPM UIN Jakarta initiated collaboration with the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) of the State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Ambon on Friday, June 21, 2024. The agreement between PPM UIN Jakarta and LPM IAIN Ambon aims to synergize State Islamic Higher Education Institutions in Eastern Indonesia, especially in Maluku, through community service collaborations.

"I hope this agreement will not merely be a formality or black and white on paper, but will be realized through tangible programs between PPM IAIN Ambon and PPM UIN Jakarta. This collaboration is expected to yield real benefits, including in community service and journal publications," said the Chairman of LPPM IAIN Ambon, Abdillah, on Friday, June 21, 2024.

Lastly, PPM UIN Jakarta initiated collaboration with the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) of Muhammadiyah University Maluku (UNIMA). This agreement aims to implement community service programs between PPM UIN Jakarta and LPPM UNIMA, empowering communities through collaboration among students from different campuses.

"Thank you for the visit of the PPM UIN Jakarta team to UNIMA. I hope the signed collaboration agreement can be realized in concrete terms," said the Chairman of LPPM UNIMA, Hamdani Kubangun, on Friday, June 21, 2024.

Ade Rina Farida initiated these collaboration initiatives alongside PPM Coordinator Eva Khudzaeva, Kaula Fahmi, PPM team members Nur Khayati, and Ahmad Muawam. During their four-day journey around Ambon, West Seram, and Central Maluku, the PPM UIN Jakarta team was warmly guided by Dr. Bernadus W. Titing S.Sos. M.Sc., a lecturer at Pattimura University (Unpatti), who accompanied them in their collaboration initiatives.

In addition to collaborating with campuses in Maluku, the PPM UIN Jakarta team also explored Seram Island, known for its natural and ethnic diversity, particularly in Negeri Liang, where both Christian and Islamic communities peacefully coexist within the same area.
