Through UM-PTKIN, Boarding Students and High School Students Can Study at State Islamic Religious Universities

Jakarta, UIN Online NewsBoarding students and high school students can apply to study at state Islamic religious universities through the UM-PTKIN (Entrance Exam for State Islamic Higher Education Institutions) selection route. UIN Jakarta offers 30 study programs for pesantren students via the UM-PTKIN route.

This was conveyed by the National Chairperson of PMB 2024, Prof. Dr. Nyayu Khodijah S.Ag., M.Si., during the opening of the 2024 UM-PTKIN Registration Technical Guidance and Socialization in Jakarta on Friday, May 17, 2024. According to her, the UM-PTKIN route is open to all high school students and pesantren students who are interested in pursuing higher education at various PTKIN across the country.

The Rector of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang stated that besides Madrasah Aliyah students, high school and vocational school students or equivalents can register through this route. Likewise, graduates from pesantren, Satuan Pendidikan Mu’adalah (SPM), Pendidikan Diniyah Formal (PDF), and Pendidikan Kesetaraan at Salafiyah Pesantren (PKPPS) are welcome to apply through this selection route.

"Graduates of 2022 and 2023 must already have a diploma or equivalent. Meanwhile, 2024 graduates must have a Certificate of Graduation from the Head of the Education Unit," she said.

According to Law Number 18 of 2019 concerning Pesantren, pesantren can provide formal and non-formal education. Based on this, students from mu’adalah education units, formal diniyah education, and ma’had aly are categorized as formal educational institutions like other educational institutions and in obtaining job opportunities.

Registration Still Open Until Mid-June 2024

Meanwhile, UM-PTKIN selection registration has been open from April 17 and will continue until June 15, 2024. Applicants will take the exam from June 24 to June 30, 2024, using an online exam application (Electronic Selection System/SSE).

Before taking the exam, applicants must first take a UM-PTKIN trial test through the SSE application. The selection results are scheduled to be announced on July 8, 2024.

UIN Jakarta, as one of the PTKIN, opens the UM-PTKIN selection route for prospective students interested in law, sharia economics, humanities, and Islamic studies. "In this selection route, UIN Jakarta offers many study programs in the fields of education, communication, sharia economics, humanities, and Islamic studies," said the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie S.Ag. S.H. M.A. M.H.

In the field of education, UIN Jakarta offers the following programs: English Language Education, Arabic Language Education, Social Studies Education, Elementary School Teacher Education, and Early Childhood Islamic Education. In the field of communication, it offers Islamic Communication and Broadcasting, Islamic Counseling, Da’wah Management, and others.

In the field of law, UIN Jakarta offers several programs within the Faculty of Sharia and Law, including Islamic Family Law (Akhwal Syakhsiyyah), Comparative Mazhab, Constitutional Law, Islamic Criminal Law, and Sharia Economic Law (Muamalah).

In the field of sharia economics, UIN Jakarta offers several programs within the Faculty of Economics and Business, namely Sharia Banking and Sharia Economics. For Islamic studies, it offers Dirasat Islamiyah at the Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah.

Islamic and religious studies are also offered at the Faculty of Ushuluddin, such as Qur'anic and Tafsir Studies, Hadith Studies, Tasawuf Studies, Aqidah and Philosophy, and Religious Studies. In the field of humanities, it offers Islamic History and Culture, Arabic Language and Literature, and Translation.
