The National COVID-19 Response Acceleration Task Force Gives Awards to the Rector and UIN Jakarta Institution

Main Auditorium, UIN News Online – The National Covid-19 Task Force gave awards to the Rector and UIN Jakarta institutions for their participation in handling the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, the Task Force also reminded the academic community of UIN Jakarta and the public to remain aware for the pandemic reversal.

The award was given directly to the Head of the Behavior Change Division of the COVID-19 Response Acceleration Task Force, Sonny Harry B Harmadi to the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis at the Main Auditorium, Friday (10/28/2022)  witnessed by officials, lecturers, and hundreds of students participating in the 2022 Community Service (KKN) activity.

Sonny himself was present on behalf of the Head of the COVID-19 Response Acceleration Task Force as well as the Head of BNPB Lt. Gen. Suharyanto. In addition, Sonny came to UIN Jakarta to deliver his public lecture entitled “Peran Perubahan Perilaku dalam Keberhasilan Penanganan COVID-19”.

At the awarding ceremony, Sonny said the award was given for the contribution of the UIN Jakarta academic community in handling the COVID-19 pandemic. One of them is the involvement of 8,283 UIN Jakarta students to become Behavior Change Ambassadors.

In addition, the contribution of UIN Jakarta educators, both with health and medical and Islamic scientific backgrounds, have promoted healthy living behaviors among the community. Healthy living behaviours is an important key in preventing the transmission of the COVID-19 virus.

He also added that the national COVID-19 Response Acceleration Task Force was supported by no less than 114 national universities, 19 companies, 53 ministries/agencies. Of the 114 universities, three of them were especially appreciated by receiving awards, including UIN Jakarta.

“The pandemic has taught us. Therefore, we express our highest appreciation to the academic community of UIN Jakarta, especially to the Rector of UIN Jakarta,” he said.

At the award, Sonny representing the national COVID-19 Task Force gave two types of awards at once. Each award to the UIN Jakarta institution for all academics and an award to the Chancellor of UIN Jakarta directly for his leadership throughout the pandemic.

For this award, Rector Amany expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the Covid-19 Task Force. In fact, representing the leadership and academic community of UIN Jakarta, Rector Amany also expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the hard work of the Task Force in leading the handling of COVID-19 throughout Indonesia.

Compared to other countries, she explained, the Indonesian government worked very quickly and effectively in stopping the spread of the virus. This is evidenced by 180 million people who have received the first vaccine and around 140 million people have received the second vaccine. In addition, millions of citizens have received booster vaccines.

“Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly thanks to the hard work of BNPB, the national COVID-19 Task Force, and the volunteers,” said Rector Amany.

Therefore, representing the academic community of UIN Jakarta Rector Amany also expressed her appreciation for the hard work of the Task Force and the government.

Meanwhile, in his general lecture, Sonny reminded the academic community of UIN Jakarta to remain aware of the potential reversal of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Referring to international COVID data, he said, the spread of this virus showed an upward trend. In France, the daily number of COVID-19 reached 45,000 people. Singapore with a population of five million people also recorded a daily distribution of 6-9 thousand people.

In Indonesia, he continued, the spread of the virus has not completely disappeared, but it can be controlled with various precautions.

However, he explained, we must remain vigilant by maintaining healthy lifestyle. “Healthy lifestyle is the most effective action in preventing the spread of the virus,” he said. (zm/usa)
