The 3rd ICIFEB Highlights the Impact of Digital Transformation

Rectorate, UIN News Online – The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UIN Jakarta in collaboration with The Indonesian Association of Islamic Economist (IAEI) held The 3rd International Conference of Islamic Finance and Business (ICIFEB) titled “Achieving Sustaining Through Islamic Finance and Business Digital Transformation” on Tuesday (07/19/2022). This conference highlights digital transformation for the development of Islamic business and finance.

Dean of FEB UIN Jakarta Amilin in his remarks said, this theme was chosen based on the current economic and business conditions that have entered the Society 5.0 era, where the use of technology has penetrated all economic and business activities, including the Islamic finance industry.

“In recent times, we have witnessed how digital transformation has boosted the growth of the sharia-based industry in Indonesia. In addition to the financial and banking industry, it is also targeting the halal food and fashion market industries, property, and others,” said Amilin.

Based on the growth of sharia-based industries in the country, he explained, it would be very promising. Experts and practitioners at this conference are expected to share their academic views and practical experiences on how digital transformation can be optimized for economic development in the country.

The conference which was held online in the format of a Webinar and Online Conference event invites academics and practitioners such as the Special Staff of the Indonesian Minister of Finance as well as the Deputy Chair of IAEI Halim Alamsyah.

Several other speakers were also invited to present their research. Among them, Roszaini Haniffa (Heriot-Watt University England as well as Editor of the Journal of Islamic Accounting and Business Research), Arief Mufraini (Associate Professor at UIN Jakarta), Mohammad Hudaib (University of Prince Muqrin, Saudi Arabia), Margareth Gfrerer (GIZ Integrated Expert for Ethiopian Ministry of Education, Germany), Mansor H. Ibrahim (International Center for Education in Islamic Finance, Malaysia), Eckhard Freyer (University of Bonn, Germany), and M. Nadratuzzaman Hosen (Commissioner of BAZNAS and Associate Professor at UIN Jakarta).

In addition, the seminar was also attended by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis and the Vice Chancellor of Umma University Kenya Halima Saado Abdillahi.

Rector in her remarks appreciated the holding of this conference. According to Amany, the Islamic finance and banking industry is required to continue to optimize its contribution to the Indonesian economy and the intensity of its contribution is expected to be realized in order to strengthen the national economy after the COVID-19 pandemic. “Utilization of digital transformation can be an important aspect in strengthening its contribution,” said Rector Amany.
