Ten Strategic Milestones Position UIN Jakarta as a World Class Research University
JAKARTA, UIN Online News – Delivering his annual institutional address at the 69th Founding Anniversary Assembly, the Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Professor Asep Saepudin Jahar, Ph.D., unveiled ten strategic milestones driving the university’s rapid globalization. The metrics span institutional growth, global academic rankings, digitized operations, and sustainability footprints.
"UIN Jakarta operates at the intersection of Islamic values, civic responsibility, and modern science," he declared. "We are not merely preserving academic traditions; we are actively scaling our international networks and upgrading our corporate governance to generate tangible societal impact."
The 10 Strategic Milestones
- Institutional Expansion The university now operates 13 specialized faculties and a Graduate School, managing 94 distinct study programs ranging from undergraduate tracks to medical specialist degrees.
- Global Ranking Surges UIN Jakarta ranks within the 801–850 bracket in the QS Asia University Rankings 2026 and holds the 29th position worldwide in Theology, Divinity, and Religious Studies via the QS World University Rankings by Subject. It also places 238th globally in the UI GreenMetric index.
- Research and Citation Velocity In 2026 alone, the campus generated 124 Scopus-indexed publications, pushing its cumulative citation total to 1,622. The university’s scientific ecosystem includes 50 accredited journals, four internationally reputed journals, 48 intellectual properties, and one patent.
- European Academic Accreditation Demonstrating global curriculum compatibility, 44 study programs have successfully clinched international accreditations from German-based agencies, ACQUIN and ASIIN.
- Transnational Mobility Backed by 180 active global university partnerships, the campus hosts 80 international degree-seeking students and has facilitated cross-border exchanges for 366 students between 2023 and 2025.
- Student Laurels and Fellowships The student body secured 1,428 national and 201 international awards within the last three fiscal years, with 3,816 students receiving competitive domestic and global fellowships.
- Digital Enterprise Automation The implementation of the university’s centralized digital enterprise platform, e-Semesta, has reached an 80.3 percent campus-wide adoption rate, successfully shifting operations toward a paperless administrative ecosystem.
- High-Impact Social Handprint The university executed seven flagship community empowerment frameworks reaching 309 target clusters, turning academic field research into localized economic solutions.
- Smart Green Campus Infrastructure Placing 31st nationally in green metrics, UIN Jakarta has integrated solar energy grids, expanded its innovative waste treatment centers (TPSTM Kalifa), and deployed eco-friendly campus transport fleets.
- Financial Autonomy and Corporate Governance The university’s Public Service Agency (BLU) revenues skyrocketed to Rp640.9 billion (approximately USD 39.5 million), outperforming initial financial targets by 19.23 percent. Additionally, the Rector's Key Performance Indicators (KPI) hit a massive 134.31 percent achievement rate.
A major highlight of the report is UIN Jakarta's ongoing structural preparation to transition into a State University with Legal Entity (PTN-BH) status, the highest tier of institutional autonomy granted by the Indonesian government.
