Supporting the Academic Success of Students from Low-Income Households

Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta is committed not only to widening access to higher education for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, but also to ensuring that these students are able to successfully complete their studies.

As part of this commitment, the University has established an institutional target of more than 90% timely completion for scholarship recipients and students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. This target reflects the University's understanding that equitable access to higher education must be accompanied by sustained academic support throughout a student's university journey.

From Access to Successful Completion

Financial assistance is designed as more than an admission mechanism. At Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta, scholarship and student-support programs are integrated with academic development, mentoring, student welfare services, and institutional monitoring. Students receiving financial support are expected to maintain satisfactory academic progress and actively participate in the academic and developmental programs provided by the University.

This approach is particularly important for students from low-income households, who may face financial, social, and academic pressures that can affect their ability to remain enrolled and complete their degrees.

Academic Responsibility and Timely Graduation

The Kartu Indonesia Pintar Kuliah (KIP Kuliah) program represents one of the University's principal mechanisms for supporting economically disadvantaged students. KIP Kuliah is intended for students with limited economic resources and strong academic potential, enabling them to pursue higher education with financial assistance.

The program places particular emphasis on academic responsibility. Scholarship recipients are encouraged and required to make effective use of the financial support provided, maintain their commitment to their studies, and complete their education within the prescribed period. The University's approach therefore links financial assistance with a clear expectation of academic progress and timely graduation.

Scholarship Recipient Development

Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta also implements structured development programs for scholarship recipients. Scholarship awardees, particularly KIP Kuliah recipients and recipients of full scholarships, participate in development activities designed to strengthen leadership, self-management, financial literacy, communication skills, character, and social responsibility.

These activities complement classroom learning by helping students develop the personal and academic competencies required to successfully complete university. The University views scholarship recipients not only as beneficiaries of financial assistance, but also as students with academic, intellectual, and social responsibilities.

Integrated Student Support

Student welfare and scholarship services are managed through an integrated system coordinated by the University's student-affairs administration. The system includes scholarship registration, verification, student data management, student development, and coordination with faculties and external scholarship partners.

This integrated approach helps Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta identify students requiring support, distribute assistance appropriately, and maintain continuity between financial assistance and student development.

Commitment to Student Success

By establishing a timely-completion target of more than 90% for scholarship recipients and economically disadvantaged students, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta demonstrates that its commitment extends beyond providing access to university.

The University seeks to ensure that students who enter higher education despite financial disadvantage are given the support, guidance, and opportunities required to remain academically engaged and ultimately graduate.

Through financial aid, structured development, academic responsibility, and continued student support, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta works to transform equitable access into successful degree completion.
