Summer Course Agenda at UIN Jakarta is Chosen by International Students from UIN Batusangkar

Diorama Room, UIN News Online - UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta welcomed international students from UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar for a Summer Course. The visit, held on Thursday (07/04/2024), was attended by eight students from each campus.

The Summer Course visit also served as a session for international students to share their experiences. UIN Jakarta was represented by Mahjoba Hasina Wardak from Afghanistan and Rosee Laehseng from Thailand, while UIN Batusangkar was represented by Ausamah Hayeeyusoh from Thailand and Math Rafin from Cambodia.

Hasina expressed her positive experience as a student at UIN Jakarta. The Information Systems major appreciated how the academic community at UIN Jakarta highly upholds Islamic values, which greatly inspired her.

"My experience here has changed my life. The friendliness of everyone here makes me feel welcomed and allows for cultural exchange," said the second-semester student in her speech.

Similarly, Math Rafin felt comfortable studying in Indonesia. He mentioned that the friendliness of Indonesians made him interested in learning about Indonesian culture and traditions.

"I want to create new experiences here because the people are very friendly," said the fourth-semester student.

Prof. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem, M.A., Ph.D., Head of the National Cooperation Service Center (PLKI), opened the sharing session with the theme "Youth Leadership for International Students in Indonesia." She noted that international students have been exposed to many cultures from other countries and encouraged them to give back to their home countries.

"Research shows that those who study abroad have a more developed mindset than those who study locally," Maila explained.

Dr. Sirajul Munir, M.Pd, Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation at UIN Batusangkar, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome from UIN Jakarta students and staff. He hoped this meeting would serve as an introduction for their international students.

"People at UIN Jakarta are very qualified. To be known, we must introduce ourselves first, and we are learning at UIN Jakarta," Sirajul said in his speech.

Prof. Ali Munhanif, M.A., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Student Affairs, hoped that international cooperation would become a backbone to drive internationalization. According to him, universities should focus more on international programs with great potential to enhance accreditation.

"This is where PLKI's role is crucial, as it is the most trusted institution for international agendas," Ali stated in his speech on Thursday (04/07/2024).
