Students of UIN Jakarta write peace letters to the president
Main Auditorium, UIN News Online – To celebrate the 5th Anniversary of the September 18th HWPL world peace summit, and to urge national support for the implementation of the international law for peace, hundreds of students of UIN Jakarta write peace letters to the President of Indonesia Joko Widodo onTuesday (09/10/2019) at Main Auditorium, Campus I of UIN Jakarta.
The event, which aimed to spread the culture of peace throughout the world was attended by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis, Vice Rector for Cooperation Andi Faisal Bakti, Member of the Presidential Advisory Sidarto Danusubroto, Chairman of the second session of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) Parlindungan Purba, LPKN Intelligence Researcher and Observers Wawan H Purwanto, and Chairwomen of the Himpunan Advokat Pengacara Indonesia (HAPI) Elza Syarief.
Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis in her remarks said that every human being has an obligation to continue to maintain world peace, UIN Jakarta itself is one of the Islamic campuses that upholds the culture of peace.
“This is evidenced by the existence of a peace and conflict resolution master’s study program at the graduate school (SPs) UIN Jakarta,” said Rector.
On the same occasion, Parlindungan Purba in his speech said that DPD really wants that the culture of peace can also be applied in all regions in the Republic of Indonesia.
“We have learned enough from the various conflicts that have occurred in this country. Therefore, we need to develop the culture of peace with all Indonesian citizens,” he said
Parlindungan also appreciated the existence of a peace and conflict resolution master’s study program at the SPs UIN Jakarta.
“Hopefully UIN Jakarta can become a pioneer in spreading a culture of peace in Indonesia,” said Parlindungan.
