Students of FITK conducts teaching activity in remote villages
Lebak, UIN News Online – 110 UIN Jakarta students and several students from universities in Jabodetabek who are members of the "Sobat Mengajar" community conduct teaching activities in remote villages on 1-26 February 2020 in Lebak Regency, Banten. In addition to filling the holiday, the activity was also a place to strengthen good relationship between higher education students in Jabodetabek.
According to the executive director of Sobat Mengajar community Mus’al Al-Habib, There are at least 10 villages from five subdistricts that are targeted by the Sobat Mengajar community, namely Cigemblong, Cirinten, Bojongmanik, Lebakgedong, and Sobang. While the number of schools used as a location for service is 20 elementary schools.
“Some of the schools are in poor condition,” said Mus’ato UIN News Online, Friday (02/07/2020).
For this reason too, Mus'ad added, the Sobat Mengajar community felt called to help the school. At the very least, with the large number of student volunteers from students going down to the village, the school burden is reduced, including other villagers.
“The villages and schools that we are targeting are generally lagging behind, both in terms of education, economy and infrastructure,” he said.
In order to help villagers and schools, the Sobat Mengajar volunteer was distributed at several points. They stay in the village for about three weeks and will be withdrawn from the location on 26 February.
The activities of the Sobat Meng Teaching volunteer team in the villages were fairly dense. Their task is not just teaching but actively helping the surrounding community in need.
“The funding for this activity came from volunteers and sponsors. Insha Allah, this program will be continued in the future. Therefore we expect support from all parties,” he hoped. (usa/ns)
