Student of UIN Jakarta organizes post-disaster relief operations
Ciputat, UIN News Online – The great flood that hit various residential areas in Jabodetabek and Banten since the beginning of 2020 pushed the concern of UIN Jakarta students to jump into as a volunteer and conduct fundraising activities for the victims.
Komunitas Pecinta Alam (KPA) ARKADIA UIN Jakarta, for example, KPA ARKADIA sent the Emergency Response Team to dive into the location with along with other volunteers from various campuses in Jabodetabek.
“As of Friday, we immediately review the post-flood situation while mapping the priority areas for assistance,” said one of ARKADIA member Muhammad Abdul Baits to UIN Jakarta, Friday (01/03/2020).
Besides ARKADIA, Kelompok Mahasiswa Pecinta Lingkungan Hidup dan Kemanusiaan-Kembara lnsani lbnu Battuttah (KMPLHK-RANITA) and the Scout Movement of UIN Jakarta also did the same thing. In addition to sending volunteers, they also raised donations for the victims.
One of Ranita member, Dewi Rohayati said that four Ranita volunteers had been sent to the disaster site in Lebak, Banten. "They will head the most affected areas, namely Lebak Gedong and Gunung Julang to conduct evacuations and assessments," she said.
On Sunday (01/05/2020), she continues, the volunteer team moved to the Gunung Julang area. The transfer was made because of the information that many people were still isolated in the Area. “The area cannot be accessed by any vehicle yet due to the main road failure,” she said.
For information, floods hit a number of areas in Greater Jakarta, West Java and Banten. High rainfall since the night of the turn of 2019-2020 caused quite severe flooding. In addition to several points in Jabodetabek, one of the areas that were badly affected by flooding was Lebak, Banten. (usa/zm)
