Student of the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training Passed Final Exam with Theatrical Script

FITK Building, UIN Online News – Ridho Hafiedz, a student in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education (PBSI) Study Program at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK) of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, successfully fulfilled his academic requirements via a non-thesis project by composing a theatrical script  "Makan!".

Ridho completed the test at the Faculty Meeting Room located on the second level of the FITK Building and he was evaluated by the examination team: Atiqatul Fitriyah, M.H.; Indah Fadhilla, , M.H., B.Lit.; JFT Learning Technology Developer, Asep Saprudin, B.Ed.; Dean of FITK, Prof. Siti Nurul Azkiyah, Ph.D., M.Sc.; and the Head of the Indonesian Language and Literature (PBSI) Study Program, Ahmad Bahtiar, Ph.D., M.H.

In his remark, Ridho said that the play script was composed as a critical examination of the quick food business and its repercussions on impending food crises. This problem has attracted global attention due to the food resilience and security for a nation's sustainability. 

"This script aims to serve as a platform for creative dialogue, encouraging the community to enhance their awareness of food sustainability and to transform the paradigm of food consumption," he explained during the thesis defense.

Under the supervision of Rosida Erowati M.H., Ridho's theatrical script is recorded as the first non-thesis final project presented as a lecturer performance or art show. Previously, FITK UIN Jakarta produced graduates who authored their final projects as journal papers published in Science and Technology Index (SINTA) 2 publications.

“I encourage for this final project to persist during its development and significantly contribute to the realms of literature and education,” Ahmad Bahtiar supported Ridho's ingenuity in creating thesis projects based on literary works.

"This play script possesses distinct academic and aesthetic significance. I recommend this work to be registered for the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) or to published it in international journal," Siti Nurul Azkiyah advised the non-thesis final project innovation creatively developed by Ridho.

Furthermore, she said that the PBSI Study Program may partner with the department's public relations to facilitate the production of this play and promote it via different social media channels administered by the faculty and university.

"I have monitored the progression of this script for the past year. Ridho is known as an active member of the Syahid Theatre of UIN Jakarta and serves as a tutor at PBSI Theatre. This script has undergone complex methodological process; therefore, I believe it is highly suitable for a non-thesis final project," Rosida Erowati, Ridho's mentor, expressed her proud towards his artistic progression.

Finally, the examiners positively praised the final project produced by Ridho, while also offering constructive critiques and evaluation towards the screenplay under. The comments and recommendations intend to enhance the work for future advancement in literary studies and its potential for larger theatrical performance.

In conclusion, the implementation of this non-thesis final project examination aims to motivate more students from FITK UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta to cultivate their creativity via creative methodologies in literature and other disciplines. This project-based thesis format also signifies progress in linking academia with pertinent social challenges in community life and manifests as creative works with significant societal influence.
