Strengthening Ties: UIN Jakarta Hosts Palestinian Ambassador and An-Najah University Delegation
Main Conference Room, UIN News Online - UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta received a visit from the Palestinian Ambassador and the chairman of An-Najah National University Nablus Palestine. This visit, which was hosted in the Main Conference Room of Rectorate Building on Monday (13/1/25), is expected to reinforce the relationship between Palestine and Indonesia, as well as to discuss the academic cooperation plan between UIN Jakarta and An-Najah University.
During the visit, the Palestinian Ambassador, Dr. Zuhair SM Al Shun was accompanied by a number of embassy officials as well as university officials. Prof. Dr. Allam S.A. Mousa, who was a former Minister and Director of the Innovation Park An Najah National University, and Dr. Waleed M.O. Sweileh, who was a former Head of the Accreditation Commission and now is the current Dean of Scientific Research An Najah National University, are also attended the visit.
Representing the Rector, Vice Rector for Cooperation and Institutional Affairs, Din Wahid, M.A. Ph.D hosted the visit. He was acccompanied by the Head of Academic Administration for Student Affairs and Cooperation Bureau, Dr. Hj Sri Ilham Lubis, Lc. M.Pd. Also with several officials of UIN Jakarta: Head of Research and Community Service Institute, Prof. Amelia Fauzia, Ph.D, Head of International Cooperation Service Center, Prof. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem M.A. Ph.D, and Head of Information and Public Relations Center, Zaenal Muttaqin S.Th.I,. M.Ag.
Vice Rector Din Wahid, M.A. Ph.D expressed UIN Jakarta's commitment in supporting Palestine in his speech upon the arrival of the Palestinian Embassy to Indonesia “We will continue to stand with Palestine,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ambassador, Dr. Zuhair SM AI Shun mentioned the journey of the long-standing relationship between Palestine and Indonesia. Not only that, the Palestinian Embassy for Indonesia has cooperated with UIN Jakarta on various occasions.
During the meeting, a nice discussion flew smoothly where both parties discussed the cooperation plan between An Najah National University and UIN Jakarta. Prof. Dr. Allam S.A. Mousa revealed that UIN Jakarta is the preferred choice for cooperation because UIN Jakarta already has international accreditation.
Student exchange with virtual academy program and international research collaboration became the main cooperation discussed during the visit. UIN Jakarta also opens opportunities for Palestinian students who want to study at UIN Jakarta.
“Of course this is a good thing. Soon, we will create the opportunity and we can even prepare the scholarship program,” said Din Wahid, M.A. Ph.D.
In conclusion of the meeting, Prof. Dr. Allam S.A. hoped, that in the future, the cooperation can improve both the global ranking of An Najah National University and UIN Jakarta as well.
“This meeting is our effort to maintain the quality of education in the midst of the great challenges we face, and we have high hopes for UIN Jakarta,” he said.
