Mahmud Yunus FITK Theater, UIN News Online - National Consumer Protection Agency (BPKN) in consumer protection education in the digital era in Mahmud Yunus FITK Theater Room on Wednesday (25/9/2024), represented by Vice Chairman of the Communication and Education Commission Ferry Firmawan, Ph.D., in his material conveyed BPKN as an institution that oversees, protects the rights of consumers and business actors.

He also explained that BPKN's task is to provide advice to the government to strengthen collaboration and synergy between consumers and business actors, conduct research related to goods and services, and encourage business actors to continue to develop their businesses in order to compete competitively in the digital market.

In addition, Ferry Firmawan also emphasized the importance of implementing Law No. 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection (UUPK) which is strengthened by Government Regulation No. 04 of 2019 on the National Consumer Protection Agency. In his material, he underlined the importance of education and socialization for consumers in Indonesia, so that they can play a more active role both as consumers and business actors who contribute to economic growth, especially in this digital era.

Ferry Firmawan, Ph.D., continued by emphasizing the importance of continuous socialization to consumers in Indonesia. He invited the public to be more active in positioning themselves, both as consumers and businesses, in the growing dynamics of the digital economy. According to him, in this digital era, consumers must have a higher awareness of their rights and obligations, and must dare to take a critical attitude in choosing products and services that comply with existing standards.

On the other hand, businesses also need to continue to improve innovation and service quality to meet the increasingly diverse and complex needs of consumers. That way, a healthy and competitive business ecosystem will be created, where consumers and businesses can support economic growth.

Ferry emphasized that success in facing the digital era depends not only on technological adaptation, but also on consumer education and understanding of their rights.

“Socialization and education are key to forming smart consumers, who are able to make decisions based on accurate information and play an active role in the digital economy,” he said.
