Strengthening Health and Well Being through Local, National, and Global Health Partnerships
Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta maintains active collaborations with health institutions at local, national, and international levels to improve health education, clinical training, laboratory capacity, research, community health services, and professional development. During 2024–2025, these partnerships were implemented through formal Memoranda of Understanding and Cooperation Agreements involving the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, hospitals, public-health laboratories, government health institutions, and international healthcare and academic institutions.
Rather than limiting these collaborations to ceremonial agreements, the University uses its partnerships to provide clinical-learning opportunities, strengthen health-professional competencies, expand research and laboratory cooperation, support community health programmes, and connect students and staff with national and international healthcare systems.
Local Collaboration with Hospitals and Healthcare Providers
At the local level, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta collaborates with hospitals and healthcare providers in Jakarta and the surrounding Greater Jakarta area. During 2024, the Faculty of Health Sciences maintained formal cooperation agreements with healthcare institutions including Permata Pamulang Hospital and Buah Hati Ciputat Hospital. These partnerships provide facilities and professional environments for education, research, and community-service activities involving health-sciences students.
Through these arrangements, students are able to connect academic learning with healthcare practice, while lecturers and partner institutions can collaborate in research and community-oriented health activities. The University also strengthened its relationship with Syarif Hidayatullah Hospital. In May 2024, representatives of the Faculty of Health Sciences and Syarif Hidayatullah Hospital discussed the development of a stronger institutional partnership to integrate academic and healthcare activities. As a hospital serving the surrounding community and participating in Indonesia's national health-insurance system, the hospital provides an important connection between University health education and community healthcare delivery. These collaborations demonstrate that the University works directly with healthcare providers within its local area to support health-professional education, practical experience, research, and community health services.

National Collaboration with Public Health Institutions
At the national level, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta collaborates with institutions under the Government of Indonesia and other national healthcare organisations. In May 2024, the Faculty of Health Sciences signed a formal Cooperation Agreement with the Center for Public Health Laboratory of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. The partnership supports implementation of the University's higher-education responsibilities in education, research, and community service. It also creates opportunities for students and academics to interact with public-health laboratory infrastructure and expertise.
The collaboration is particularly relevant to health and well-being because public-health laboratories play an important role in disease surveillance, testing, prevention, and evidence-based public-health interventions. The Faculty of Health Sciences also records formal partnerships during 2024–2025 with national health-related organisations and institutions, including health laboratories, pharmaceutical institutions, professional-education partners, and other healthcare providers. Through these collaborations, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta strengthens the connection between university health education and Indonesia's broader healthcare system.

Global Collaboration with International Health Institutions
International health collaboration is another important component of the University's health strategy. In May 2024, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta formally renewed its cooperation with Far Eastern Memorial Hospital (FEMH), Taiwan.
The collaboration builds on an existing partnership involving the Faculty of Medicine and other relevant faculties. The cooperation enables academic and professional exchange between the University and an international teaching hospital. Previous implementation of the partnership has included staff and student mobility, clinical attachment, observation of healthcare services, participation in clinical activities, and opportunities for collaborative research. By continuing the agreement in 2024, the University demonstrated that the partnership is active and extends beyond the initial signing of an MoU.

Expanding International Medical and Health Cooperation
The University's international collaboration expanded further in June 2024 through engagement with Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences, United States. Representatives of Oklahoma State University met with the Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Health Sciences to develop collaboration in medicine and health. Areas discussed included medical and health education, academic collaboration, research, professional development, and opportunities for broader institutional cooperation.
The Faculty of Health Sciences' official partnership records also identify an MoU between Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta and Oklahoma State University in 2024. The University's international health network continued into 2025 through formal cooperation with institutions including Burapha University in Thailand. These collaborations expose students and staff to different healthcare systems, international academic standards, and collaborative research environments, strengthening the global competence of future health professionals.
Translating Partnerships into Health Education and Services
The University's health partnerships are designed to generate practical benefits rather than remaining solely administrative agreements.
The collaborations support several interconnected areas:
-
clinical education and professional practice for students;
-
access to hospitals, laboratories, and healthcare expertise;
-
professional development for academic staff and health practitioners;
-
joint research and scientific activities;
-
public-health and laboratory capacity development;
-
community-service and health-promotion activities;
-
student and staff mobility;
-
exchange of medical and health knowledge; and
-
development of stronger institutional healthcare networks.
The combination of these activities strengthens the University's capacity to educate competent health professionals while also increasing opportunities for research and community health engagement.
Improving Health and Well-Being Outcomes through Partnership
Health and well-being outcomes depend on cooperation between universities, hospitals, laboratories, government institutions, healthcare professionals, and international partners. Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta therefore uses collaboration as a mechanism to connect academic expertise with healthcare practice. Local partnerships strengthen access to clinical environments and community healthcare.
National partnerships connect the University with Indonesia's public-health infrastructure and healthcare system. Global partnerships provide access to international knowledge, clinical experience, research networks, and professional-development opportunities. Together, these collaborations strengthen the University's contribution to health-professional education, preventive and community healthcare, research, laboratory development, and improved healthcare capacity. Through active partnerships at local, national, and global levels, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta demonstrates an institutional commitment to working collaboratively with health institutions to improve health and well-being.
