Strengthening Academic Ties: UIN Jakarta Welcomes 13 International Scholars through the 2025 Research Fellows Program
Jakarta, UIN Online News — The International Research Fellows Program at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta welcomes 13 professors and researchers from various countries, strengthening the university’s research ecosystem, academic collaboration, and internationalization agenda. Under the theme “Global Minds, Shared Visions,” the program is designed to foster international research partnerships, scientific publications, and academic capacity-building across faculties at UIN Jakarta.
Organized by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M), the initiative aims to expand collaborative research, enhance publication output, and build the scientific capacity of UIN Jakarta’s academic community.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we invited professors and scholars from around the world, with twenty scholars involved. This international cooperation focuses on advancing high-quality research and globally recognized publications,” LP2M Chair Prof. Amelia Fauzia, Ph.D., opened.
During his visit to LP2M, Robert Hefner, a professor in the Department of Anthropology and the Pardee School of Global Affairs at Boston University, remarked that UIN Jakarta stands out as the leading institution for Islamic studies in Indonesia.
“I have always felt that UIN Jakarta is one of the best Islamic universities, not only in Indonesia, but globally. So, I have visited the campus many times. I think what Indonesia has created with its Islamic higher education is a truly exceptional educational system for today,” he shared.
Also present was Dr. Erica Larson from the Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore (NUS), who stated the importance of critical learning and collaborative research.
“Having students and educators who are genuinely interested in research and eager to explore new knowledge is remarkable. As long as you have the enthusiasm and keep trying, you will succeed. This program is fantastic. Thank you to UIN Jakarta for hosting me for two weeks,” she conveyed.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Mohd Norhusairi bin Mat Hussin, a senior researcher from Universiti Malaya, shared his positive experience collaborating with LP2M.
"I truly enjoy being here with the students and lecturers and having the opportunity to exchange knowledge in our respective fields. My sincere thanks to LP2M, to my good friend Prof. Kama, and to the lecturers at the Faculty of Sharia and Law,” he expressed.
