Strengthen Global Research Impact, UIN Jakarta Launches “Publication of The Week” and Citation Workshop Program

UIN Jakarta, UIN News Online – As part of its commitment to boosting the global impact of its academic research, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta’s Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) has unveiled its new “Publication of The Week” program, alongside a specialized workshop aimed at improving publication quality and citation rates. Held virtually on Monday (11/11/2024) via Zoom, the workshop brought together UIN Jakarta’s academic community to discuss effective strategies for publishing in top-tier international journals and enhancing research visibility on global platforms.

The workshop, moderated by Dr. Flori Ratna Sari, Ph.D., featured insights from distinguished speakers, including Prof. Maila Dinia Husni Rahiem, M.A., Ph.D., and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nur Rianto Al Arif, M.Si. The event covered key aspects such as maximizing international journal citations, leveraging online platforms to enhance the reach of academic work, and the value of research collaboration to enrich publication quality and quantity.

LP2M Head Prof. Amelia Fauzia, Ph.D., opened the event by underscoring the importance of research visibility in academic success. “Through this workshop, we aim to support the academic community of UIN Jakarta in increasing the reach and impact of their research, ultimately elevating the institution’s global standing,” she remarked.

Echoing Prof. Amelia’s sentiments, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. H. Ahmad Tholabi Kharlie, S.Ag., S.H., M.H., M.A., emphasized that both publication and citation rates are fundamental to institutional prestige. “Boosting publication and citation rates are central to advancing UIN Jakarta’s academic reputation on the world stage,” he said.

Prof. Maila Rahiem shared UIN Jakarta’s achievements and challenges in citation rankings, encouraging faculties to identify and address areas with untapped potential for growth. “UIN Jakarta is already recognized internationally, but it’s crucial that each faculty takes specific steps to strengthen their citation metrics,” she explained.

Additionally, Prof. Maila outlined several essential tips to increase publication impact. These included selecting timely, high-interest research topics, collaborating with international peers, and ensuring polished, high-quality writing. She also advocated for publishing in open-access journals to maximize accessibility and recommended promoting research on platforms like LinkedIn, ResearchGate, and Google Scholar to boost visibility and citation rates.

Through initiatives such as “Publication of The Week” and targeted workshops, UIN Jakarta continues to advance its mission as a global leader in Islamic higher education, enriching both the academic community and society at large with impactful research contributions.
