STF UIN Jakarta Invites Students to Participate in International Youth Leadership Camp

Rectorate, UIN News Online – Social Trust Fund (STF) UIN Jakarta in collaboration with PPIM UIN Jakarta and UNDP invites all national under graduate and graduate students to participate in International Youth Leadership Camp. Other than the local students, this activity also open for international students or Islamic and general college student activity unit representatives that have concerns about the importance of peace and anti-radicalism. The event is scheduled to take place on Friday-Monday, February 2-5, 2018.

The invitation was given directly by Director of STF UIN Jakarta Dr Amelia Fauzia MA, Monday (1/8/2018). “We invite both local and international students from various universities, especially for those who interested in becoming peacemakers who will spread the social awareness about the danger of narrow radicalism for their people,” she said.

Amelia said, the activity chose the theme of Strengthening the Value of Rahmatan lil-'Alamin among Young Muslims. This theme is taken in accordance with the purpose of this activity, namely to develop knowledge and awareness among the students about Islam, peace issues, the dangers of conflict, and the importance of preventing all forms of violence.

This activity is expected to encourage students' awareness of the danger of radicalism and extremism, “Through this activity, the students will be expected to have the insight, skill, and leadership to actively participate in preventing radicalism and anarchism,” she explained.

Based on STF release, program registration is open until Monday, January 15, 2018. Participants who pass the administrative selection will be announced and interviewed via skype on Tuesday-Wednesday, January 16-17, 2018. Event coordinator, Muhammad Zuhdy Ph.D added the training itself will discussed some materials. Among them are the identification of the danger of radicalism, the difference of ideology and the concept of Islam rahmatan lil 'alamin, the strengthening of rahmatan lil' alamin values, and the role of youth as the peacemakers.

In addition to competent speakers, the activities will also be filled with discussions and visits to local Muslim communities. Through the visit, it is hoped that the participants can draw the best experience in managing the life of community units at the local level.
