STF UIN Jakarta Invites Academic Community to Help Lombok Earthquake Victims
Ciputat, UIN NEWS Online - STF UIN Jakarta invited the academic community of UIN Jakarta to share their concerns in helping the earthquake disaster victims in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
Chairman of the Lombok Disaster Response Volunteer Team, STF UIN Jakarta, Febria Afia Rahmah, said that the reports of teams that had been deployed to the disaster site and national mass media reports noted the severity of the impact of the earthquake. Besides being injured, hundreds of people also died or their fate is unknown because they are still being damaged by the damaged building materials.
Beyond that, the magnitude 7 earthquake massively destroyed residential housing facilities, public infrastructure such as hospitals and schools. As a result, residents must evacuate to safer locations and lose the important facilities they need.
"In the short term, the earthquake caused thousands of residents to flee, hundreds of people were injured, died and reported as missing. Infrastructure facilities were also destroyed," she said.
In the long run, continued Febria, residents affected by the disaster also had to endure traumatic burdens and had to restart their normal lives from scratch. Reflecting on these conditions, Lombok residents affected by the earthquake disaster needed complex assistance and not a few, both short and long term.
"Because of that, we invite the academics of UIN Jakarta in particular, as well as the community in general to share their concern to help our Lombok residents who were affected by the earthquake," she said.
STF UIN Jakarta itself, he continued, has formed a team of volunteers who are ready to raise public awareness of the affected people. Even STF UIN Jakarta also collaborated with related parties such as KMPLHK RANITA UIN Jakarta and several other social humanitarian institutions in distributing public assistance to affected people.

"For the time being, we are still focusing on distributing basic needs and energy assistance from KMPLHK RANITA UIN Jakarta volunteers. We will also synergize with various parties at the disaster site, "said Febria again.
