STF Book Bazar: Buy Two Get One For Free

Rectorate, UIN News Online – There are many ways to raise humanitarian funds. One of them is what the Social Trust Fund (STF) of UIN Jakarta did by opening a cheap book bazaar. Through the Charity Store outlets, STF held a book bazaar on the UIN Jakarta campus with the tagline “Buy 2 Get 1 Free”. The bazaar was opened at the Charity Store outlet, which is located near the main campus exit gate, right next to Bank Mandiri.

“The cheap book bazaar aims to raise humanitarian funds. Funds collected will be given back in the form of scholarships for students,” said the Director of STF UIN Jakarta Amelia Fauzia to UIN News Online through WhatsApp application on Wednesday (06/15/2022).

Amelia said that all of the books sold at the Charity Store were the result of donations. They donate books to charity, while people who buy books are also for charitable purposes. In addition to books, the outlet also sells wearable clothing and various accessories.

According to Amelia, there are at least five good things that can be obtained from the book bazaar activity. First, the kindness of the donors as book contributors; second, the kindness of the volunteers in managing book sales; third, the kindness of buyers who in fact also act as donors; fourth, the goodness of the scholarship program obtained from the bazaar with students as beneficiaries; and fifth, the goodness of the knowledge obtained from the book from generation to generation.

Therefore, she hopes that the book bazaar activities can continue in a sustainable manner. Moreover, the books being sold are rare or “unique” books and are not sold elsewhere.

“Some of the books come from national figures, such as Azyumardi Azra, Komaruddin Hidayat, and Ridlo Masduki,” said Amelia.

Meanwhile, STF Business Unit Staff who is also the coordinator of the book bazaar Oktavia Sari said the book bazaar has been held since June 13, 2022 and will end on July 28, 2022. The bazaar is open every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday at 09.00-15.00 WIB.

The books sold cover a variety of disciplines, such as religion, social, law, education, philosophy, politics, art, history, and science. There are even novels and some practical guidebooks.

In terms of price, according to Sari, the books sold are quite cheap and varied, ranging from Rp. 5,000 to Rp. 40,000. It's even negotiable.

“Depends on the thickness and type of book. Buyers can choose two books plus one free any book while supplies last,” she said.

Sari added that buying books at the STF Charity Store outlet not only gains knowledge but also contributes to charity, especially for providing scholarships for students.

“For students or the general public who want to buy cheap books while doing charity, please visit the STF Charity Store booth. Buy two get one for free,” she concluded. (usa/zm)
