State Sovereign Fund Approves UIN Jakarta Sharia Banking Doctoral Program for LPDP Scholarships
JAKARTA, UIN Online News – The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has officially opened its second-wave registration portal for the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Program in Sharia Banking for the Fall Semester of the 2026/2027 Academic Year. The premium enrollment window is scheduled to run from July 2 to July 29, 2026.
According to the official FEB executive brief released on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, this year's enrollment cycle has gained substantial strategic momentum. The Sharia Banking Doctoral Program has been officially approved as a destination program for the prestigious LPDP Scholarship (Batch 2, 2026) managed by the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia. Consequently, qualified candidates can now pursue their doctoral research fully backed by the state’s multi-trillion rupiah sovereign education fund.
The Head of the Sharia Banking Doctoral Program, Prof. Nur Hidayah, Ph.D., clarified that this state endorsement reflects deep institutional trust toward the university's academic infrastructure.
"Alhamdulillah, our Sharia Banking Doctoral Program is now formally verified as an LPDP destination. This is both a major institutional mandate and a massive opportunity for academics, senior researchers, financial regulators, and corporate executives to access top-tier doctoral training that impacts national and global Islamic financial architectures," she stated.
The Sharia Economics Professor added that inclusion in the LPDP portfolio expands critical access for civil servants (ASN), central bank regulators, fintech practitioners, and financial professionals to secure elite doctoral credentials. This milestone follows the program successfully securing the "UNGGUL" (Excellent/Premier Tier) Accreditation from LAMEMBA, solidifying UIN Jakarta's market position as a premier elite provider of Islamic macroeconomic education in Southeast Asia.
The Dean of FEB UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Ibnu Qizam, highly praised the state fund's approval, noting that the recognition is the direct result of continuous investments in international scientific publications, strict internal corporate governance, and expanding global academic networks.
"The inclusion of our program into the LPDP matrix provides critical momentum to scale up access to advanced research. We expect the nation's elite talent to choose FEB UIN Jakarta as their incubator for high-level leadership and policy design in Islamic finance," Qizam remarked.
The Sharia Banking Doctoral Program features a heavily research-driven curriculum targeting macro theories, policy frameworks, and market innovations. The advanced academic modules specifically deconstruct:
-
Islamic Social Finance: Strategic management of Zakat, Waqf, and sustainable community endowments.
-
Sharia Fintech and Digital Transformation: Blockchain engineering, regulatory sandboxes, and digital banking disruption.
-
Corporate Governance and Sustainability: Harmonizing Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) with global Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria.
The doctoral pipeline is steered by full professors holding extensive international citation indexes, driving research collaborations with global regulators, central banks, and international financial institutions. Graduates are engineered to occupy strategic posts as international consultants, macro-regulators, and chief executives capable of steering global economic innovations.
