State-Backed Research Framework for Equal Access Higher Education, UIN Jakarta Builds Accessible Infrastructure and Disability Services

JAKARTA, UIN Online News – In a coordinated drive to optimize accessibility frameworks across higher education institutions, the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta hosted an institutional benchmarking visit from the Academic Services Research Team of UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. The delegation focused on auditing resource management blueprints and specialized facilities built for students with special needs. The joint operation is an integral component of the Ministry of Religious Affairs' MORA Air-Fund 2026 Research Program, engineered to accelerate the realization of fully inclusive university campuses nationwide.

Prior to the faculty-level evaluation, the research delegation from the Faculty of Education at UIN Surakarta was formally received at the university executive level. The team was welcomed by the Head of the UIN Jakarta Center for Students with Special Needs (CSSN), Prof. Siti Nurul Azkiya, Ph.D., alongside the CSSN executive board and Reyhan, M.A., a visually impaired faculty member who actively leads the university's disability support services.

The working agenda subsequently advanced to the office of the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at FEB UIN Jakarta. The strategic meeting was attended by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Sofyan Rizal, the Vice Dean for General Administration, Dr. Erika Amelia, and senior lecturer of the Islamic Economics Department, Dr. Ady Cahyadi, CRMP.

The high-level discussion focused heavily on the practical deployment of academic accommodations for students living with physical challenges. The Vice Dean for General Administration, Dr. Erika Amelia, presented the various physical infrastructure networks that have been seamlessly integrated across the faculty grounds.

"The Faculty of Economics and Business at UIN Jakarta maintains an absolute corporate commitment to delivering a universally accessible and highly supportive academic terrain for all students, specifically guaranteeing equal access for our special needs demographic," Dr. Amelia asserted.

She detailed that the university's current inclusive infrastructure portfolio encompasses strategically mapped tactile paving systems (guiding blocks) for the visually impaired, the mobilization of immediate operational wheelchair fleets, and universally accessible restroom facilities engineered to ensure independent daily mobility for challenged students.

The cross-institutional evaluation included a real-time empirical field audit of the active facilities. A member of the UIN Surakarta research unit, M. Irfan Syaifuddin, personally tested the structural compliance of the available accessibility infrastructure. Utilizing a standard operational wheelchair, Syaifuddin navigated the integrated structural access ramps constructed around the Harun Nasution Auditorium complex. The field test was executed to gather first-hand data on the ease of transit and structural gradient compliance for wheelchair users accessing central university facilities.

This strategic benchmarking initiative is projected to serve as a foundational operational reference for upscaling special education support networks across the State Islamic Higher Education Institution (PTKIN) grid, while aggressively reinforcing inter-university alliances to anchor sustainable, inclusive campuses.
