SPs UIN Jakarta to Organize the 5th ICIIS
SPs, UIN News Online – The Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has initiated the fifth International Colloquium on Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies (ICIIS) 2022 themed “religion, education, and technology towards a more inclusive and sustainable future”.
The hybrid conference is scheduled on the 19th and 20th of October in Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat, Indonesia. Audiences and presenters can attend the conference in person or via a virtual conference room.
The Graduate School invited UIN Sulthan Thaha Saifuddin Jambi, UIN Mataram's Graduate School, and State Hindu University I Gusti Bagus Sugriwa in Bali to co-host the conference. During preparations, the vice chancellor of Umma University in Kajiado, Kenya, expressed interest in joining the collaboration. Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, the director of the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, welcomed the new party to join to enrich this forum's discussion and invite interdisciplinary experts to participate in the dialogue. Prof. Asep envisions this event will provide graduate students an excellent opportunity to interact and receive comments on their research from renowned and other foreign researchers. He explained that three plenary sessions will feature nine invited speakers. Prof. Azyumardi Azra of UIN Jakarta, Dr. Abdullah Sahin of University Warwick, United Kingdom, and Dr. Fides del Castillo of De La Salle University, Manila will address "Open, inclusive, and sustainable knowledge organization in faith-based universities: A way forward" in the first session. Prof. Abdul Lateef Krauss Abdullah from Universiti Putra Malaysia, Nadirsyah Hosen from Monash University Australia, and Dr. Phillip M. Henry from the University of Derby, United Kingdom, will discuss the topic "Towards a transmodern transformation of our global world: Muslim society's challenges and opportunities" during the second session. Prof. Lysann Zander from Leibniz University Hannover, Germany, Sidratun Naim Ph.D. from Harvard Medical School, United States, and Dr. Carl Helsing from High Point University, United States will debate "faith, science, technology, and future sustainability" in the last session.
All accepted conference papers will be published by Taylor & Francis, one of the largest academic publishers in the world. It is planned that Scopus index the publication, and the book will be freely accessible. This publication is open to all disciplines who wish to address the concept of bringing about a more inclusive and sustainable future. Experts in the respective subjects are invited to serve on the academic committee and assist with the paper's evaluation to ensure that it meets the criteria for high-quality articles. Prof. Asep stated that this is a means through which the Muslim world disseminates its ideas and research to the greater globe.
