SPs UIN Jakarta Holds International Colloquium
SPs, UIN News Online - UIN Jakarta Graduate School (SPs) held an international interdisciplinary Islamic study colloquium entitled Islam and Sustainability. The two-day colloquium, Tuesday-Wednesday (October 9-10, 2018), invited a number of Islamic researchers from various local and international universities.
The colloquium was opened directly by the Director of SPS UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Masykuri Abdillah at SPs Building, Tuesday (10/09/2018). In his remarks, Masykuri said, the theme of the colloquium "Islam and Sustainability" would present research results on various environmental issues in theological reviews, social movements, and the role of Islamic social institutions.
"For that reason, the colloquium also invited a number of speakers from various academic institutions who would highlight Islamic studies from various angles they studied," he explained.
Besides academicians from UIN Jakarta such as Prof. Azyumardi Azra, the colloquium also invited academics from various outside universities. Among them were Dr. Miho Tahaka and Dr. David Curran from Conventry University, and Dr. Ina Imam Supaat from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia.
In addition to the general lecture, the colloquium is also filled with panel discussions according to the specified topics. Among them are environmental issues in the review of religious doctrine, environmental issues in socio-cultural movements, environmental issues in a gender perspective, and environmental issues in a review of pop culture.
