SPAN PTKIN: Islamic Banking Became the Most Popular Study Program

Jakarta, UIN NEWS Online- Islamic Banking Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of UIN Jakarta became the most popular study program for students of the State Islamic Religious College (PTKIN) through the National Academic Achievement Selection (SPAN). Director General of Islamic Education (Pendis) Ministry of Religious Affairs, Prof. Dr. Phil. Kamaruddin Amin MA, hopes that the new student quota of the program can be expanded to accommodate more people.

This was conveyed by Kamaruddin during the SPAN PTKIN press conference at the Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Jakarta, Monday (04/30/2018). The last count of PTKIN registrants through SPAN PTKIN, the number of applicants entered the Islamic Banking Program FEB UIN Jakarta reached 11,326 registrants.

"(With the composition so, ed.) Making Sharia Banking UIN Jakarta with the highest number of enthusiasts in Indonesia," he explained.

Kamaruddin explained that the high demand of Banking Syariah Prodi in SPAN path of PTKIN is in line with the high interest in Islamic Banking Study Program, Islamic Economics Program Study, and S Management Study Program at PTKIN this year. In UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, for example, a total of 10,523 applicants of Islamic Banking Program is currently quota up for only 60 students.

Furthermore, the Islamic Economics Program of UIN Jakarta where here the total number of applicants reached 9,618 people. Then, Islamic Banking Study Program of UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang with 9151 applicants and finally, Management Study Program of UIN Bandung with the number of applicants 8,625 people.

Meanwhile, Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Prof. Dr. Dede Rosada MA said SPAN PTKIN for Banking Syariah Prodi is the most excellent enrollment type.  "Regarding with the limited quota that is not balanced with the number of enthusiasts, it is actually caused by the limited human resources, including supporting infrastructure of Islamic Banking Study Program," he explained.

SPAN PTKIN is one of the enrollment type offered by PTKIN. This year, UIN Jakarta offers 30 Prodi in its faculty, such as Islamic Education Study Program, English Education Study Program, Biology Education Study Progran, Constitutional Law (Siyasah) Study Program, Syariah Banking Study Program, and Islamic Economics Study Program.
