Skilled Labor Needed, Japanese Industry Players Explore Cooperation

Rectorate Building, UIN Online News—Several industry players from Japan explored cooperation with UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta during their visit facilitated by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) on Friday (5/4/2024). Among the cooperation focuses explored is the provision of skilled labor that graduates of UIN Jakarta can fulfill to work in various sectors of the Japanese industry.
The exploration of cooperation was attended by representatives of Japanese industry players such as Mitsuhato Kato, Director of Tokyo Host Lion Club, accompanied by Kadin Indonesia Advisor Teguh Setiabasa. The visit was received directly by several leaders of UIN Jakarta such as Vice Rector for Cooperation Din Wahid M.A. Ph.D., Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Ali Munhanif M.A. Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Dr. dr. Achmad Zaki M.Epid., Sp.OT. FICS, and others.
During the exploration that lasted for more than an hour, Japanese industry players revealed that the demand for skilled labor to work in various sectors of the Japanese industry continues to increase and develop. Kadin Indonesia itself is actively mediating the fulfillment of skilled labor needs from Indonesia every year.
Mitsuhato Kato expressed that Japan greatly needs young labor in various sectors, including services, hospitality, and professions such as nurses, doctors, and civil architects. Kato also announced that Kadin has opened opportunities for cooperation with 25 universities to create relationships and compatibility between universities and the industrial world.
"We see UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta itself as a potential university in meeting the needs of skilled labor through the graduates produced annually," he said.
Following the need for skilled labor demand in the Japanese industry as well as the need for absorption of graduates into the workforce, Teguh Setiabasa urged that the exploration of cooperation be realized as soon as possible. To prepare graduates ready to work in Japan, Kadin Indonesia offers the provision of guest professors from Japan tasked with training in language and introduction to Japanese culture to facilitate skilled labor adaptation.
Teguh also offered for the Language Development Center of UIN Jakarta to provide Japanese language courses to facilitate language learning for enthusiasts.
In response, Vice Rector for Cooperation Din Wahid expressed UIN Jakarta's enthusiasm for the exploration of cooperation conducted. UIN Jakarta, he said, is committed to promoting any form of cooperation that is positive for the development of science as well as the absorption of graduates into the workforce.
Prof. Ali Munhanif, Vice Rector for Student Affairs at UIN Jakarta, warmly welcomed the guests who had come and shared about cooperation opportunities in Japan.
