Sherly Annavita Encourages Freshmen at FITK UIN Jakarta to Recognize Their Potential and Strengthen Collaboration
Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN News Online – Influencer and Youth Motivator, Sherly Annavita Rahmi, S.Sos., M.Si., featured as a speaker in a talk show themed “Gazing at the World Through Writing: Developing Literacy, Self-Reflection (Journaling), and Ideas in the Digital Era”. This talk show formed an integral part of the 2026 Academic and Student Culture Orientation (PBAK) series for the Faculty of Educational Sciences and Teacher Training (FITK), aiming to equip new students to remain adaptive and competitive in navigating digital era dynamics at the Harun Nasution Auditorium, (28/08/2026).
In addition to being a content creator, Sherly is the founder of Sherly Enlightenment Academy (SEA). Born in Lhokseumawe, Aceh, on September 12, 1992, she holds a degree in International Relations from Paramadina University, Jakarta, and earned a master's degree in Social Impact Investment from Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. Having also studied Japanese Literature at Universitas Gadjah Mada, the figure who gained popularity via her social media account @sherlyannavita with over 2.2 million followers actively educates the public and is frequently entrusted as a speaker on national and international stages.
The event was attended by the Dean of FITK, Prof. Siti Nurul Azkiyah, M.Sc., Ph.D.; Vice Dean I for Academic Affairs, Dr. Yanti Herlanti, M.Pd.; Vice Dean II for General Administration, Dr. Yudhi Munadi, S.Ag., M.Ag.; Vice Dean III for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Alumni, Salamah Agung, M.A., Ph.D.; alongside leadership from the SEMA and DEMA FITK student bodies. Also present to enrich the session were the National Coordinator of the Education Network Indonesia (JPPI), Abdullah Ubaid Matraji, as well as Academician and Psychology Expert Anindito Aditomo, S.Psi., M.Phil., Ph.D. In her presentation, Sherly emphasized the importance for incoming students to recognize their personal potential and dare to step out of their comfort zones through a culture of collaboration, rather than operating in isolation. “Our skill set A + our friend's skill set B = let us collaborate. Our capability X + our friend's capability Z = our goal is the same, let us walk together. Collaboration vanishes when we do not understand our position and the potential we possess,” she stated. Facing the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and a borderless world, she urged future educators to be adaptive, critical, and not limit their exploration strictly to formal classroom boundaries. “We may study at UIN, but curricula at Harvard University or Oxford University today can already be accessed. Expand your creative space, explore, and you might just become the first generation to spark that idea,” she asserted. She added that the college years must be utilized optimally as a vehicle for self-growth and quality transformation until the conclusion of study. “4 years from now, when standing in a kebaya or suit for graduation, what will distinguish us from the day we first sat as new students? This growth process is what makes campus culture compelling,” she concluded. PBAK FITK 2026 was attended by 1,108 new students across various study programs, including Islamic Education, Arabic Language Education, English Language Education, Indonesian Language and Literature Education, Social Studies Education, Mathematics Education, Biology Education, Chemistry Education, and Physics Education. These were followed by new students from Educational Management, Elementary School Teacher Education (PGMI), Early Childhood Islamic Education (PIAUD), and Professional Teacher Education.
