Scout Movement of UIN Jakarta distributes “Go-green” goodie bag

South Tangerang, UIN News Online – Pandega’s scout of UIN Jakarta distributes 5000 “Go Green” goodie bag to shopping center visitors in South Tangerang and DKI Jakarta. The free goodie bags were distributed in order to change the habit of plastic bag users. This eco-friendly activity is held for two days on January 24-25, 2019.

According to Go-green action coordinator Syifa Fauziyah, the UIN Jakarta scout members were randomly deployed to every shopping centers, both in South Tangerang City, Banten and DKI Jakarta, especially the South Jakarta area.

The distribution, she continues, was held to support government programs in reducing plastic waste and environmental pollution. The program also seeks to encourage people to start using eco-friendly and biodegradable bags.

“This activity is actually a program of the Directorate General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs of Indonesia. We only distribute it to shopping centers visitors,” said Syifa.

However, she added, the program was also in line with the mission and teachings of the Scout Movement, especially the second Dasa Dharma, namely to love the nature and to love the fellow humans. The bags are indeed made of biodegradable material, making it safe for health and not polluting the environment. (usa)
