Research Team from the Faculty of Ushuluddin of UIN Jakarta Collaborates with the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center

Tashkent, UIN Online News - On Wednesday (19/02/2025), the Faculty of Ushuluddin at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta sent a research team along with the 27 other Indonesians to Uzbekistan to participate in the first expedition of "1000 Cahaya Indonesia (SCI) for Amirul Mukminin Fil Hadits, Imam Bukhari.".

This visit and trip seek to bolster the study "Legacy of Imam Bukhari" undertaken by the Faculty of Ushuluddin UIN Jakarta and the Institute of Quranic Sciences (IIQ) Jakarta. The visit will yield significant results in the hadith research, demonstrating Indonesia's dedication to science and global Muslim civilization.

During a meeting with Associate Professor Dr. Shovosil Ziyodov, he was surprised that Indonesia, the nation with the largest Muslim population globally, has never formed a relationship with IBISRC since its scholarship is limited to Malaysia, Turkey, and other Muslim nations.

"Our constraint is access to educational institutions in Indonesia; thus, the arrival of the research delegation 'Legacy of Imam Bukhari' from the Faculty of Ushuluddin UIN Jakarta and the Institute of Quranic Sciences (IIQ) Jakarta signifies the collaboration of IBISRC in hadith studies, the advancement of Imam Bukhari's writings, and other scholarly initiatives with Indonesia," Shovosil Ziyodov, Director of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center (IBISRC), explained.

During the visit to the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan (IIAU), particularly the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Centre (IBISRC) and the Silk Road International Tourism University, the team engaged with Rustam Kobilov, the Deputy Governor of Samarkand. During the conference, he offered three recommendations:

  1. Collaboration among four educational institutions (UIN Jakarta, IIQ Jakarta, IIAU, and IBISRC) to organize the International Conference and Research on the Legacy of Imam Bukhari for the Muslim World in Jakarta in early June 2025, and at the Imam Bukhari Centre Complex in Samarkand, Uzbekistan from October 25-28, 2025.

  2. The construction of the Soekarno Memorial Park and Library to commemorate the historical discovery and repair of Imam Bukhari's tomb by Soekarno in 1956. The Soekarno Garden, initially intended for Silk Road University Samarkand, had been relocated to the Imam Bukhari Mausoleum complex, coinciding with the inauguration of the renovated mausoleum complex, which is projected to become the largest pilgrimage site comparable to Medina in Saudi Arabia.

  3. The use of the Indonesian language on signage (road signs) in the vicinity of Imam Bukhari's tomb and other Islamic luminaries' graves in Uzbekistan is a tribute to the first Indonesian president and his people.

“We concur with the recommendations put forth by the UIN and IIQ delegations. Following this meeting, we will engage with the authorities of the Imam Bukhari mausoleum regarding two garden areas, one of which, pending approval, will be designated as Soekarno Park to honor Indonesia's role in the discovery of the tomb of the esteemed hadith scholar,” Rustam Kobilov stated during the delegation's visit to Silk Road University in Samarkand.

The meeting's outcomes not only advance the domains of science and research but also hold the potential to enhance the tourism sector in both Indonesia and Uzbekistan, given that both nations are endowed with significant scientific assets and remarkable cultural heritage.

UIN Jakarta, via its Faculty of Ushuluddin, has once again emerged as a leader in the integration of science and Islam, setting a precedent in Indonesia and enhancing the reputation of both the State Islamic Universities (UIN) and Indonesia in the international world.
