Red and White Flag Raised During UIN Jakarta's 80th Independence Day Commemoration
UIN Jakarta Field, UIN Online News — UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta conducted a formal flag ceremony on August 17th at the Triguna field to mark the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia (Sunday, August 17, 2025).
The ceremony was presided over by the Ceremony Inspector, the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., together with the Vice Rectors, Bureau Heads, Deans, Lecturers, and distinguished attendees.
A significant moment in this celebration is the remembrance of the seconds of the Proclamation, succeeded by the recitation of the Proclamation Text by Drs. H. Teguh Sarwono, M. Si., the Head of the Planning and Finance Bureau of UIN Jakarta.
In his remarks, Parade Inspector Prof. Dr. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., emphasized the critical role of religious universities in preserving nationalism and fostering future civilization.
He reminded the audiences that independence is not a concession but the culmination of a protracted battle characterized by sacrifice. Consequently, the entire academic community bears a moral and intellectual obligation to enrich independence with substantive contributions to the nation's advancement.
"Today, all Indonesian people stand to commemorate the historic 80th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia's independence. This significant moment reminds us that independence did come with a cost, achieved through a long struggle of our nation's heroes," he expressed.
Therefore, he urged the necessity of engaging the entire academic community in honoring the contributions of the heroes, while also emphasizing the significance of embodying independence through diligence and commitment.
"Integrity, discipline, and sincerity in educational service must manifest the essence of independence. By prioritizing science as our resource, establishing Islamic values as our cornerstone, and fostering cooperation as our strength, we can guide Indonesia towards the lofty aspirations of the Indonesia Emas 2045," he addressed.
The ceremony featured the recitation of the Pancasila text by the Head of the AUK Bureau, Dr. H. Nanang Fatchurochman, S.H., S.Pd., M.Pd., the reading of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution, and a collective prayer conducted by the Head of the Ma'had Al-Jamiah UPT, Dr. Muhamad Suryadinata, M.A.
Subsequent to the ceremony, the event proceeded with the recitation of the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia concerning the conferral of the Satyalancana Karya Satya.
The ritual was then finished with the Parade Commander's final report, a salute to the Parade Inspector, and the dismissal of the participants.
This momentum is not only a manifestation of nationalism but also UIN Jakarta's dedication to persist in contributing to nation-building through exemplary and cohesive education.
