Rector's Message at UIN Jakarta's 141st Graduation: Optimize Integrity and Optimism
Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN News Online – UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta once again held the 141st Open Senate Session for the Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral Graduation, inaugurating graduates from the Faculty of Da'wah and Communication Sciences (FDIKOM), the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), and the Faculty of Psychology. The Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., inaugurated 829 out of a total of 3,154 students at the Harun Nasution Auditorium on Saturday (September 12, 2026).
Under the theme "Establishing Innovative Graduates with Integrity and an Impact on Humanity," Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., conveyed that graduating from UIN Jakarta is an important step forward. The most important thing is to have the drive and good intentions. In addition, the Grade Point Average (GPA) should not be the sole primary benchmark.
"Having the drive and good intentions is the keyword. Do not complain or lament about what is within you. The moment of lamenting must be eliminated, the moment of complaining must be left behind, let gone, be gone. We should face the next and the challenges, that is what must be held onto. Moreover, never solely rely on a piece of graduation diploma with a GPA of 3.8 or 4.0. The main point is, day by day, there must be a sense of optimism," he stated.
In his presentation, the Rector reminded that becoming a graduate of the 141st Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral programs does not always stem from instant planning, but rather from strong determination, intention, effort, and prayer. The role of parents is also one of the main keys to life. Prof. Asep explained that respecting and not offending parents' feelings is the main key to navigating the next stage of life.
“The current challenges are tough. Everything we face is indeed difficult, but it does not mean it is impossible. Difficult is okay, that is normal. The keyword to remember is, never ever hurt your parents as it is the key to life, al-miftah lil-hayat. Never hurt, offend, or wound your parents, or your life will be meaningless,” he concluded.
In closing, the Rector reminded that technological developments continue to advance, and UIN Jakarta graduates will compete with alumni from other universities. Life must be given meaning, adorned, and equipped with goodness.
For information, UIN Jakarta successfully inaugurated 3,154 graduates in the 141st Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral Graduation. The inauguration of these graduates was held in two waves, namely on Saturday (September 12, 2026) and Sunday (September 13, 2026) at the Harun Nasution Auditorium, Campus I of UIN Jakarta.
