Rector of UIN Jakarta: Muslims need to emulate the attitude of Prophet Muhammad

Ciputat, UIN News Online – The commemoration of the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW should strengthen the efforts of the Muslim world community to to uphold justice and world peace. The attitudes and behavior of the Prophet Muhammad SAW as narrated by the Koran, hadith, and sirah nabawiyah need to be emulated by every Muslim in today's and future societies.

This was said by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis when delivering her speech at the The Annual Multicultural Mawlid Concert 2020 which was held by the Australian Islamic High Council, Daar al-Fatwa, Monday (11/01/2020). Apart from Professor Amany, a number of Muslim scholars from various countries also participated in the event.

“I hope that the spirit of the mawlid can strengthen our efforts in upholding justice and world peace,” said Rector Amany.

Apart from carrying the message of Islam, Amany further explained, the Prophet Muhammad is a figure with perfect morals. An attitude of assertiveness, justice, gentleness, and respect for others are only a few of the noble attitudes of the Prophet that need to be emulated by Muslim societies today and in the future.

The implementation of such attitudes, continued Professor Amany, is very relevant to be applied in a plural global life. “If applied in our daily life, Islam and Muslim societies can be seen as a role model for the world community in creating a world of peace and harmony,” she said. (usa/zm)
