Rector of UIN Jakarta Inaugurates Jajang Jahroni and Ratna Sari Dewi as Professors
Main Auditorium, UIN News Online – Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis inaugurates Jajang Jahroni and Ratna Sari Dewias new professors, Wednesday (05/12/2022) at Harun Nasution Auditorium, campus I of UIN Jakarta. The inauguration ceremony was carried out online through zoom application by following strict health protocol.
Jajang Jahroni was inaugurated as History of Islamic Civilization Professor at the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH), while Ratna Sari Dewi was inaugurated as Professor of English Education at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FITK).
Rector in her remarks congratulated the two newly appointed professors. “I hope the newly appointed professors can carry out their duties as well as possible. A professor is expexted to t protect and provide solutions to problems that arise in society through their respective knlowledge,” said Rector Amany.
The Chancellor also said that currently UIN Jakarta has more than 100 professors. “We should be grateful that UIN Jakarta has many great professors. Even the number of professors will continue to grow through the professor acceleration program,” she said.
She also reminded the newly appointed professors to provide performance reports in the form of reputable international journals or quality reference books.
“This is an effort to respond to people who view professors as a reference and role model by the community. I also hope that the newly appointed professors can increase their roles and functions to a global level,” she added
Ratna Sari Dewi is the first female professor in the field of English Education at FITK. Her success in achieving a professorship is expected to motivate other women at UIN Jakarta.
Ratna Sari Dewi was born in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, on May 1, 972. She took her bachelor and master degrees at Padang State University and her doctorate at Jakarta State University.
At the inauguration of her professorship she delivered a scientific oration entitled “Tantangan dan Peluang Global Mahasiswa dan Lulusan Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris pada Masa New Normal Menuju Era 5.0”.
He took his bachelor degree at IAN Jakarta, masters degree at Leiden University, the Netherlands, and doctoral degree at Boston University, United States of America.
At the inauguration of his professorship she delivered a scientific oration entitled “Munculnya Kelompok Salafi-Wahabi di Era Indonesia Kontemporer”. (ns/usa)
