Rector of UIN Jakarta Congratulates Three Alumni Appointed as Ministers in the New Cabinet
Jakarta, UIN News Online –Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, MA, Ph.D., extended his heartfelt congratulations to three distinguished UIN Jakarta alumni who have been appointed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia to serve in key ministerial roles. The announcement highlights UIN Jakarta’s success in producing influential leaders across diverse sectors through its comprehensive Islamic education system.
Rector Asep Jahar expressed his pride in the accomplishments of the alumni, stating, "UIN Jakarta is proud to have alumni who continue to inspire society with their contributions and achievements. Their appointments as ministers reflect the high quality of UIN graduates, their ability to face contemporary challenges, and their strong commitment to both Islamic values and national development."
The three UIN Jakarta alumni appointed to the cabinet are:
- Prof. Dr. Abdul Mu'ti, M.Ed. – Minister of Education
Prof. Abdul Mu'ti, a respected Islamic scholar, is known for his moderate views and significant contributions to the field of education. As Secretary-General of Muhammadiyah from 2022 to 2027, he has played a crucial role in advancing both Islamic and educational discussions at national and international levels. As the new Minister of Education, Prof. Mu'ti is expected to lead an inclusive and forward-thinking approach to education, promoting academic excellence alongside moral and character development for future generations. - Prof. Dr. K.H. Nasaruddin Umar, M.A. – Minister of Religious Affairs
Prof. Nasaruddin Umar, Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque, is renowned for his efforts to promote interfaith dialogue and religious moderation. His earlier tenure as Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs (2011–2014) was marked by efforts to foster peace and inclusivity. In his new role, Prof. Nasaruddin is committed to enhancing religious harmony and ensuring that Indonesia's religious policies uphold values of tolerance and justice rooted in the spirit of rahmatan lil 'alamin. - Raja Juli Antoni, Ph.D. – Minister of Forestry
Raja Juli Antoni, a young leader with a strong background in environmental advocacy and land management reform, served as Deputy Minister of Agrarian Affairs since 2022. Now appointed as Minister of Forestry, Dr. Antoni will spearhead initiatives to protect Indonesia’s forests, combat deforestation, and implement sustainable practices that balance environmental conservation and development.
